Engine
An engine’s displacement is the total volume of the engine’s combustion chambers, a rough index of the engine’s size and power. This is typically measured in liters (3.2L, for example), though sometimes it is expressed in cubic inches. I-4 and V-6 refer to the configuration and number of cylinders.

Transmission
The transmission adapts the output of the engine to the drive wheels. Transmissions usually have multiple gear ratios (“gears”) with the ability to switch between them as speed varies (6 gear ratios = “6 Speed”). Transmissions must either be controlled manually by the driver (“Manual Transmission”) or automatically by the vehicle (“Automatic Transmission”). One type of Automatic Transmission is the Continuously Variable Transmissions (CVT) which doesn’t have a fixed number of gears.

About This Vehicle

Model strengths:

Iconic styling; impressive off-road prowess; 2- and 4-door configurations available

Model changes:

Moving into the 2017 model year the Wrangler will only see minor changes such as LED head- and fog lamps as standard equipment on Sahara and Rubicon trims and optional on Wrangler Sport and Sport S. Sport S and Rubicon models will also have an optional cold-weather package that includes 17-inch BFGoodrich All-Terrain TA KO2 tires, an engine-coolant heater, heated seats, a Power Convenience Group (heated power mirrors, one-touch power windows, power locks, keyless remote entry) and heavy-duty all-weather floor mats.

Model value:

With prices starting at a little under $23,000 with standard 4-wheel drive, the classic Wrangler is one of the best SUV values available. The 6-speed manual transmission helps the Wrangler achieve a decent 17 mpg city and 21 mpg highway rating. Jeep considers the Wrangler's off-road prowess integral to the brand and they continue to make one of the most capable 4-wheel drive vehicles available.

Model overview:

The Wrangler comes in three trim levels and its 4-door sibling, the Wrangler Unlimited, comes in four trim levels for 2017, all with a 3.6L V6 engine. The engine makes 285 hp at 5,200 rpm and 260 lb-ft of torque. All Wrangler models have a 6-speed manual transmission as standard equipment, while a 5-speed automatic is optional.

All Wrangler models also come with electronic stability control, a full-size spare tire and shift-on-the-fly 4-wheel drive; the Sahara and Rubicon models add traction control. All models also share Dana solid front axles and heavy-duty rear axles, ensuring that the Wrangler will keep moving over obstacles that would stop other off-roaders.

Every 2017 Wrangler's interior features cloth-wrapped bucket seats with driver height-adjustment, a tilt-adjustable steering wheel, temperature and compass gauge, cruise control and an anti-theft engine immobilizer.

The Sahara trim receives heated power mirrors, power windows and remote keyless entry. The suspension is a heavy-duty type and the wheels are 18-inch aluminum. A standard 3-piece hard top is also included that comes with a rear wiper, defroster and tinted windows.

The Sahara Wrangler gets performance suspension, 18-inch aluminum wheels, fender flares, a leather steering wheel, side steps, satellite radio with a one year subscription and remote keyless entry.

The Rubicon is the Wrangler's factory-built hard-core off-roader. Mechanically, the Rubicon is fitted with Tru-Lok front and rear axles, Dana heavy-duty axles, an electronic sway bar disconnect and 4:1 Rock-Trac 4-wheel drive system. Inside and out, the Rubicon is subdued, and the interior is intended to be more functional than luxurious, with cloth seat trim and a basic AM/FM/CD stereo.

The options list however is broad enough to configure Wranglers any way the buyer wants, ranging from a 30GB media center stereo that includes a 6.5-inch touch screen, navigation and a USB port, Katzkin 2-tone leather seats, remote start and a trailering upgrade package

Answer:
In the past I starting cutting some things and wound up having one built to my specifications after driving my 2013 that didn't have exactly what I wanted (sound system, nav, leather seats, towing package). But then I'm pretty particular about my things. You don't want to be stuck with a Jeep that you dont absolutely love.

We just got our new Willy's Wheeler last week in white and black for my wife. It is a great little 4x4. We got this model with a manual transmission and LED lighting along with A/C, convenience package, soft and hard top, and a few more extras. It rides like a car but with the added ability to see the road from a higher vantage makes it fun to drive. We've performed our own undercoating on this as when examining prior year models we noticed they all seem to rust out in the same places (around the doors, hood and back panels). We used a commercial grade product bought here at Amazon and it really only takes 2 gallons to do a nice job. We also added grill protectors as the open grill looks nice but it also catches all the bugs. We aftermarket added 4 inch aluminum (painted black) step ups for my wife and it adds to the look of being a bad-girl car. With the split top (in addition to the built in soft top) she is able to remove part of the roof to take advantage of the nice days left without the work ofalremoving the hard top.

We also sealed the paint with Optimal clear coat to add some additional protection to the painted screws around the doors and hood. We like the fender flairs being high impact plastic but be warned that Fiat / Jeep left fairly large gaps underneath and if you are in a heavy road salt region like ours, this can be troublesome in later years. Lastly, as I mentioned we got the new LED lighting group with this vehicle and for the extra money (it's an add-on for this version) they are great in moonless nights and rain--unbelieveable the difference. And don't worry about power, this engine from the specs is nearly 300 HP for 2017 and it makes this 4x4 get up and go.

We're not sure about the maintenance for this but as time goes on, we'll update our review to let you know how the dealerships provide aftersale support for warranty issues.

You don't buy the Wrangler because you NEED a vehicle, you buy this because you WANT a Wrangler. I've been eying this car for a while now and when I first started looking for a fuel-efficient, affordable, smooth ride, convertible the Jeep was the last on the list.

The gas milage is low (~20mpg if you keep everything stock), it doesn't go fast (100mph is the top speed on the speedometer), you can feel the road, the list goes on. I was either going to buy a Jeep or an Audi Q5 or BMW X5 and I'm so glad I bought the Wrangler.

First off, I don't drive fast so the speed and acceleration didn't bother me. I've never been that person to "punch it" or loves the thrill of acceleration.

Gas:
The gas is still something I'm trying to get over. Currently gas here in Texas is $2.19. It's a 20 gallon tank in the JKU. I pay about $45-$50 to fill up and it can take me 400-420 miles before I need to refill.

The ride:
It's smooth for the most part. I got it for off-road but I use it as a daily driver. Older Jeeps use to be bumpy, stiff, and somewhat dangerous to drive but nowadays with all the safety standards and modern luxuries inside cars they've made them for the average consumer "soccer moms".

Off-road:
This is my first 4x4 so going up hills and large boulders was worrisome for me at first but it makes it up some steep terrain.

The community:
Man I love getting the waves from other Jeep owners. It's an awesome feeling being a part of something. Every Jeep owner I've met so far is really nice and loves sharing tips and advice about their ownership. The groups I'm in my area all get together every month and go on Jeep trails and sometimes food joints to just hang out and chat.

Factory-ordered my Rubicon to get the specs I wanted including the manual transmission, tow package and leather seats, but also keeping it fairly simple with the basic no-nav radio/CD-player and just the hard top(for now). Couldn't be happier with it. It's rugged and comfortable and has everything you expect in a Wrangler, plus some updated parts like LED headlights which are incredible at night.
The Rubicon comes with knobby off-road tires that have already proved their worth in the snow and on the sand.
Can't recommend this vehicle enough. Buy one and join the club!

We always wanted a 2dr Jeep Wrangler Sahara and finally got one before I was too old to climb in and out of it. We purchased ours through the Costco car buying program which was the most pleasant car buying experience ever. We ordered it from the factory and got the Rhino color. We were nervous about the color because you rarely see any with the Rhino color.

Car reviews mark it down for the bumpy ride, but if you are an educated buyer you know what your getting. Besides I had an MG for ten years, and the Jeep rides like a dream compared to that.

We only have 8000 miles so far, so we have no complaints.

Ordered my 2017 Wangler Sport without the extra options and with the options to make it what a Jeep is supposed to be. 6 speed manual, 3.73 rear end, AC, hard and soft tops all manual locks and windows.... this jeep is a large improvement over the 1980 CJ I had then. Very nice
