What drives a seemingly mundane man to commit a series of acts so heinous that it captured the attention of a horrified nation? In the summer of 1991, Jeffrey Dahmer was arrested in Milwaukee and sentenced to 957 years in prison for killing 17 people and dismembering their bodies. THE JEFFREY DAHMER FILES explores this Midwestern city by meeting those who knew Dahmer during and after his hidden killing spree. Recollections from Milwaukee Medical Examiner Jeffrey Jentzen, Police Detective Patrick Kennedy, and neighbor Pamela Bass are interwoven with archival footage and everyday scenes from Dahmer's life, working collectively to disassemble the facade of an ordinary man leading an ordinary existence.

The reason I only give this 3 stars is the complete anonymity of the victims of this catastrophe. Some of that time spent talking about how the main detective's social life was effected by the case was unwarranted. I however did like him overall and the story of how Jeff ended up with his clothes for his day in court made me chuckle.
Overall good watch, especially for 99 cents.
It would have been nice for the actor to have had lots of script to act out. I felt like I was watching alternative theater at a community college or some silent-movie combined with voice-over modern. I get that Dhamer was a nut job but I doubt he acted abnormal day to day or to other people. He probably was as normal acting and looking as everyone else. I've know several schizophrenics and none were aggressive or dangerous but Hollywood makes them all serial killing rapists when it's well known most serial killers are in the normal range of psychology, harmless to others.
REDO this movie with dialogue for DHAMER.
The reenactments are soooooo slow. Painfully slow. Not entertainment wise, but literally, slow. There are "dramatic" pauses that sometimes last over a minute!
This was a major miss for me. I'm a huge crime documentary lover, and I can usually find redeeming factors in them, but this one was pretty much made for Detective Kennedy to wax poetic about how important he was.
I herd the jokes and the DAHMER jokes and what haveya
Wanted to know the real story behind the urban legend.
I think this documentary was good at keeping my attention and making me better informed.
