About Jeffrey Lant
Author of over 63 book, I graduated from Harvard University with a master's (1970) and Ph.D. in History (1975), and where I was a Woodrow Wilson Fellow.
I have taught at over 30 universities across the nation including University of Maine, Boston University, University of Connecticut, Hofstra University, University of Pittsburg, Chatham College, Case Western Reserve University, Eastern Michigan University, University of Minnesota, Southern Methodist University and many more.
My program on consulting, sponsored by Oklahoma State University, was the first university program to be broadcast from outer space. The initial broadcast went to over 30 universities.
Over the course of many years, I have written books on a wide variety of important subjects. These subjects include business development, marketing, copy-writing, publishing, nonprofit fundraising, public relations, and consulting. They also include volumes on animal rights, the British Monarchy, vegetation, mothers, fathers, international relations, politics, people I've known, and love.
In addition, my two volumes of memoirs entitled "A Connoisseur's Journey: Being the artful memoirs of a man of wit, discernment, pluck, and joy." received 9 literary awards, including one from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for Lifetime Achievement.
You might think that at age 71 with so many published materials, and a host of prizes indicating how popular my publications are, that I would wish to retire, to lounge and snooze over someone else's hard work. But you see, my work can never be finished, because every time I put fingers to keyboard, I like to believe that I am changing the world just that bit. And when one knows one is doing good, there can be no argument for giving it up.

I have just cancelled my subscription to the Boston Globe. I have had this subscription for over 50 years, thereby making me one of the dwindling number of people who have invested their time and money. Why did I take such an astonishing step?
In a word, I have watched the Globe tumble from the pinnacle of journalistic excellence to a dull and commonplace rag.

Author's program note. I'm telling you right from the get-go. I am going to write this article in the tempi of summer... starting with andante non troppo and ending with non troppo, andante be damned. A huge range of people are using this book. People with the most idealistic motives to those who have no other motive than simply wanting to get filthy rich. Members of state legislatures and celebrities with well-known names are using this book to build their stature and promote their interests... entrepreneurs swear by it because it promotes their products and services to targeted constituencies who can buy and benefit from their babies. Entertainers, charities and nonprofit organizations of every kind, even budding revolutionaries have all found in these pages the secrets they need to influence their publics. And, not surprisingly, hundreds of authors and publishers have found here exactly what they need to sell more books.
And why not? This remains the most detailed book ever written on how to get all the free space you want in the print media... and all the free air time on radio and television. What's more the techniques work! Updated ways Dr. Lant is using for FREE Exposure Online - www.writerssecrets.com
I've learned two things from feedback from these folks: 1) the number of people wanting to sprint ahead with the help of the media is immense and 2) the number of those successfully using the techniques in these pages is nearly as large.
I have believed for a long, long time that virtually anyone with a product or service should be using the media/internet to get ahead — and can, with the proper help, learn the necessary techniques and begin deriving the very considerable benefits that only the media can bestow.
By following the techniques in this book, you'll find success in bringing your product and service to the attention of just the people who can be motivated to buy it. You'll get free print space... and free time on radio and television. For visibility and profitability online is at www.writerssecrets.com
To be sure, there are costs involved in this process. It takes time to frame the right image, to research the right message, to make the right presentations, even to do the interviews and record the programs. But in the final analysis, there is nothing so potent as media in getting your message to large numbers of people. Using the tips presented in this book, this message will influence these people to do what you want them to do. And you will also get one extra, most satisfying benefit that most people can only imagine: deference. That's right, by mastering these techniques you'll influence masses of people and transform yourself into a celebrity, even if that standing is only within a limited field.
Using these methods, seeking to gain the promotional advantage from every one of my many activities, I have reduced my advertising budget to tiny proportions without cutting my ability to generate significant sales. As a result, I've kept my expenses low and reaped major advantages... all the while developing high public exposure. As a result, I've become a millionaire.
Think what I'm saying. One guy working at home without outside financial resources, fueled only by an unquenchable desire to succeed and motivated to learn how the media work and to use them, working daily to achieve this objective, becomes both rich and well-known.
This book which seeks to show you the paramount role of media in American life and give you the steps you need to cash in on media for your own benefit... and the benefit of those who need to hear about you and what you're promoting, be that product, service or cause.
Use this book in conjunction with the other 6 books in my Entrepreneurial Series.
I'm planning — and working on — other volumes for this series even now. How will you know about them? By staying in touch and calling to request a free subscription at www.writerssecrets.

MONEY MAKING MARKETING: Finding The People Who Need What You’re Selling And Making Sure They Buy It
Jul 8, 2016
by
Jeffrey Lant
$9.99
We are living in the Great Age of Marketing. And this book — packed as it is with one helpful suggestion after another — will help you succeed in it. You’ll be able to use and profit from this resource for years.
You should be aware, however, that not everything you need is in these pages. To start with, you’ll find hardly a word in this book on marketing on the World Wide Web or via e- mail. That’s not because I don’t regard them as important. Quite the reverse. They are so important that I have dedicated separate volumes to each of these topics. I recommend them to you now.
WEB WEALTH explains “How to turn the World Wide Web into a cash hose for you and your business... whatever you’re selling.” E-MAIL EL DORADO provides “Everything you need to know to sell more of your products and services every day by e-mail without ever spamming anyone!” In the resources section at the conclusion of this book, you’ll find out how to get more information about both books, and many other useful items, too.
This volume also does not provide the motivation, determination, energy and commitment you need to succeed. These cannot come from me. They must be your essential contribution to the success of your marketing efforts.
Over the many years I have been working in marketing, I have had contact with literally tens of thousands of people. Virtually all have told me, some with an impressive drum roll of language, that they wish to be successful in marketing, for who does not know that in our era success in marketing is the surest way to garner more than your share of the good things of this earth?
Unfortunately, talk is not only cheap; it’s completely ineffectual unless and until it’s put into a client-centered plan fueled by your determination to improve the lives of others by making it abundantly clear to them just what kind of value and life-transforming advantages you can deliver to them.
Sadly, lots of marketers, while exceedingly liking the advantages that derive from a mastery of marketing, just cannot come to grips with the fact that marketing is a people business... a business where you must get “up close and personal” with thousands, even millions, of prospects. Some of these prospects are never going to like what you can deliver, no matter how splendid and valuable. Others, while being clear on the advantages, just won’t have the wherewithal to acquire them.
In any event, marketing is always a game about people... about identifying them, shaping what you’re selling to appeal to them, and then following up again and again until you make the sale... and then doing it all over again to make another sale!
Personally, I love the game and I thrill to the challenge. And I hope that when you finish this volume, you’ll not only come away with heightened skills and techniques, but with a determination to improve your lot in life by improving the lots of others, using marketing as your tool for doing so.
Thousands of people are now using this book, tens of thousands more are using my other marketing and business development books both to get ahead and transform the lives of people worldwide. Use this book conscientiously, and you’ll not just be better off yourself. You’ll make the world a better place, too, for, believe me, marketing can deliver that always satisfying result.

MONEY TALKS: THE COMPLETE GUIDE TO CREATING A PROFITABLE WORKSHOP OR SEMINAR IN ANY FIELD
Jul 8, 2016
by
Jeffrey Lant
$9.99
You have before you a book that can be of the utmost assistance to you as you launch yourself on the talk circuit, or refine your existing practice. I know. Over the years thousands and thousands of would-be and already established speakers have successfully used this book.
Talk programs, you see, should be part of the repertoire of every aspiring human being. And why not?
• Talk programs make money in their own right. By following the many practical suggestions in this book, you’ll make more money. Often lots more money. Surely that will please you!
• Talk programs, properly handled, will build your perceived value as a professional. The world is divided into two parts: people who speak and the rest who listen. Which would you rather be?
• Ihlk programs can generate a ton of favorable publicity for you. Such publicity is valuable for several reasons, one, of course, being more speaking assignments. In addition, such programs often give you something that is in lamentably short supply in our increasingly “in your face” world: deference. I enjoy being catered to. Perhaps you like it, too. When you use the talk circuit to generate publicity you’re treated better. It’s as simple as that.
• Talk programs lead to many other benefits. You’ll get additional speaking assignments when you handle your speaking assignments well. You’ll get consulting business. You’ll be able to launch books and other information products and will also build other businesses in which you happen to have an interest. In short, talk programs are a wealth catalyst.
• Your talk programs will transform the lives of people who need you. Do you wish to do good? Do you wish to help make other people’s lives better? Then you are right to look to the talk circuit. Here you have the very real possibility of helping others, often vast numbers of others. What could be better, doing well by doing good? It’s a magical formula that never loses its charm... and the talk circuit helps make it all possible.
You’ll get all these things from this book. And more. You see, it’s direct, honest, practical, candid. Like having a good friend in the business who’s determined to help you succeed. For I am your friend, determined to help you succeed.
When you’re finished, as you use the practical wisdom I’m honored to share with you, stay in touch. I’m genuinely interested in how you get on... and on... and on! For you see, with this book in hand and a conscientious determination to use it faithfully, I’m betting on your long-term success!
Why I Wrote This Book
Workshops, seminars and lectures are a superb way of making money. I know. For many years now, I have been giving presentations at colleges and universities, trade associations, events organized by other entrepreneurs and at those I mount myself. If you know something, have the solution to someone else’s problem, have the expertise, technical dexterity, information and presentation skills, you ought to consider an occasional seminar or workshop. Even though you do only one or two a month, you can make thousands of dollars of additional income each year. Who couldn’t use that?
I say this as straightforwardly as I can: if you have technical proficiency of some kind and cannot make money from this book, it’s your own fault. If, however, you follow the many suggestions in these pages, you will succeed and your investment in this book will be returned thousands of times over.
What's written on this subject tends to deal with independently-produced programs. I deal with that subject last for a very good reason. Independent programs can produce a terrific return on your investment — can.

Email El Dorado: EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW TO SELL MORE OF YOUR PRODUCTS AND SERVICES EVERY DAY BY E-MAIL
Mar 6, 2016
by
Jeffrey Lant
$9.99
This is a book about making money for your business, lots of money, using e-mail. It’s not a book showing you how to spam people.
If you opened the cover hoping to learn how to engage in stealth attacks on people’s privacy in the middle of the night, sending a barrage of sexual enticements, details on the latest get-rich-quick scheme, or on the new patent medicine you’ve discovered to cure yet another pain emanating from the lifestyles of the aging and incautious, you need to look elsewhere. That kind of information is not here. I open my e-mail every morning and find dozens of these communications, so irritating and they threaten the entire e-mail environment.
This book is designed to help you and your business turn e-mail into one of the most profitable and productive tools of your business; serving both your prospects and customers with the kind of efficiency unimaginable years ago.
When you use the sensible, utilitarian, entirely profit-making tools in this book to their uttermost, you’ll be the pilot of your profit craft, able to whip your flat- footed competitors without breaking a sweat, make the big corporations look even more sluggish and backwards than so many already do.
When you effectively use e-mail you’re in a position to bring unlimited amounts of your client-centered marketing messages to the attention of prospects and buyers from Akron to Zanzibar all day, any day, for just the trifling cost of your Internet access provider. Now all the world that’s plugged in is available to you and what you’re selling.
This is a book about freedom, exhilaration, intelligence, helpfulness, systematizing and, always about making more money.
This book grew out of two of my daily emotions: excitement and frustration.
The World’s Greatest Game played out with anyone, anywhere who has a computer, money to purchase my wares, and the critical tool of e-mail, my objective is simple: to get the greatest number to identify themselves as prospects, to get the greatest number of these prospects — to purchase, and to get the greatest number of those who have already purchased to purchase again as quickly as possible.
This game is universal in scope, intellectually challenging, insistent, fast-moving. It’s a game without hard and fast rules but with very clear, indeed stark, objectives... a game where each move necessitates and indeed demands a counter move... and where speed, human psychology, your own desires and both the capabilities and the limitations of both technology and the humans who still control it produce a ride that can vary from smooth and gentle to violent and abusive, minute to minute.
The excitement comes from knowing that you are the master of your fate, that you are playing with and against people everywhere who are hunkered down at their machines planning their next moves with you.
This solves the oldest problem in marketing history: how to get another human to take faster action to acquire the item which you wish to sell him.
These are the people who haven’t bothered to understand e-mail, to integrate it into their marketing activities, and to utilize its potential to the max. These are the people who say, when you ask them for their e-mail address, “I don’t know what it is. It’s around here somewhere,” or who, knowing that you have e-mail, too, still call you with questions which could be effortlessly dispatched by e-mail.
businesses may have the vital tool of e-mail, but that doesn’t mean for an instant that they know how to use it.
Constructive gamesmanship is necessary to successful work; using your brain, and all the tools at its command, to achieve your goals.

“and millions, yea tens of millions, of people will trip over themselves rushing to it. My future's secured. Tra la!" Where do these nutty ideas come from anyway? When you're on the Web to make money, you're in the promotion business. Not just sometimes. Not just when you feel like it. But every single day. Why? Because when you stop promoting your Web site, you sign its death certificate.
In this resource — utterly characteristic, hard-hitting, opinionated, insistent and action-oriented like everything I write — these major problems, and many others, are systematically dealt with so that you can turn the Web into a continuing source of both immediate and long-term profit.
Read that paragraph again. This book isn't about the beauties of the Web... or how much fun you can have on the Web... or the delights of having worldwide penpals... or how easy it is to find some piece of recherche information. No way! THIS BOOK IS ABOUT MAKING MONEY ON THE WORLD WIDE WEB FOR YOU AND YOUR BUSINESS. If this is the mission you want to accomplish, get into the cockpit with me. We're about to take off.

A book you’ll be using in some form or other for the rest of your professional life. It is designed to start you on the road to consulting success by easing you into a lifestyle and a business process in a non-threatening, manageable, hopefully inspiring fashion. THE CONSULTANT’S KIT, well established many years ago as one of the leading resources to succeeding in this exciting and lucrative career.
I'm sure you've invested a lot into becoming an expert in your field, gaining specialized information, and finding ways to help others. Now, at a ridiculously low cost, you can begin to get a very substantial return on your investment.
Moreover, if you’re like most of the people who have bought THE CONSULTANT’S KIT, you are bored, tired and frustrated with the usual 9-to-5 routine. I know I was. I hated taking orders, and I was a very bad employee. Not only did I think my bosses were often wrong about what they were doing; I had complete confidence I could do things better. This is not an attitude most bosses like — until they hire a consultant, when they deem it essential and pay accordingly.
You have been looking for the opportunity to take your fate in hand, to use your brains and information to your own best advantage and keep for yourself a greater percentage of the benefits which you know how to deliver. Not surprisingly, while you are often frustrated on the job, you are ordinarily brimming over with creativity, a zest for life and a desire to help others. For make no mistake about it: we consultants are a very helpful lot. We like our information to be put to the best possible use solving other people’s problems.
Perhaps like most of my readers, you are not the heir to great wealth. You’ve got the brains and the expertise, but nature neglected the trust fund. In consulting, that’s all right. Consulting is one of the last places left where you can create a profitable business from the first day (as I did) with ludicrously limited capital.
When I launched my business there was no resource like THE CONSULTANT’S KIT, and as a result I made a panoply of mistakes. None was fatal, all stung one way or another. Being a helpful person, I resolved to spare you the same ignominies, foolishness, and tire-spinning. So I wrote this book which is, in one way of thinking, a compilation of all my mistakes and the ways to avoid them and do things right.
For keep in mind: there are right ways and wrong ways to go about the business of being a consultant. You have to be technically expert in your field. You must spend a portion of each day marketing. You must promote your successes to people and organizations who want you to replicate them. You must learn how to exploit the media to become the perceived expert in your field. And you must be determined to succeed.
I remain resolutely determined, and I advise you to take on the same insistent attitude about your own success. Not everyone will like you for it. Most people are slothful, disorganized and prone to associating with others who share these lackluster traits. Not successful consultants, however. It’s another luxury we cannot afford.
I delight in finding new ways of working smart; cutting my hours while repeating ever greater profits on projects that make use of more and still more of my talents. As you master the techniques of THE CONSULTANT’S KIT — and all the other books in my Get-Ahead Series — you will come to work as efficiently, as profitably.
What is clear is that consulting demands your creativity. I have never, never in my life been more consistently creative than since I launched my consulting practice. It demands your commitment, your drive, your energy, your constant enthusiasm. Continually. But consulting repays this investment in two very important ways.
Consulting gives you independence.

We are now well into the Great Age of Information. It is indeed truly said that information is power. But more than some Machiavellian pursuit, the information you have at your disposal is powerful because it:
•helps other people solve their problems
•provides you with an excellent means of gaining control over your time and indeed your life, and
•gives you a superb means of making money — lots of money!
That’s why you’ve come to this book: To see whether it can help you achieve these three critical objectives. Let me tell you something: you’ve come to the right place.
There are two key problems in the advising business: how to get the client in the first place and how to work with the client to do what’s good for him. Virtually all the academic books entirely ignore the first problem, no doubt feeling that the mechanics of the marketplace are beneath the god-like advisor. Nothing, of course, could be further from the truth. I don’t care how bright you are. If you cannot market your practice, you’ll never get the chance to display what you know, and your intelligence, for all its sublimity, will be practically useless.
By the same token, too many of the books written by advisors themselves seem to ignore the change process in favor of concentrating on often very elementary marketing techniques. These writers seem to suggest that if you can satisfactorily handle marketing, you don’t have to worry about the actual work you do with the client. This, of course, is ridiculous. Marketing must always be a significant part of the life of the advisor; face it, however: you’re going to have to know what to do once you get the client. To my complete dismay, I’ve found that all too many advisors, having won the battle to get the client, lose the war to convince him to follow their good suggestions, thus insuring client unhappiness and a growing feeling of powerlessness and dissatisfaction on the part of the advisor who finds himself heard, perhaps, but not heeded.
This book addresses both these issues in very practical detail. But it goes one step further than any other book on this subject.
Virtually every book on advising as a profession makes the assumption (often thoughtlessly) that an expert can make sufficient income merely from the sale of time, of hours, weeks and months. This is true, of course, if you have fairly modest income objectives. I don’t. My income expectations, like most of my generation, are very, very high. Unfortunately there are only so many hours in the day, and you’ll find that you’ll reach a peak where you’re working the maximum number you can and where you cannot push up your hourly rate very much higher without sacrificing badly-needed business. You are, in short, stuck in an income groove. But there’s absolutely no reason for this to be the case.
One of the very important ways this book varies from any other book on this subject is that it provides unique information on how you can build a national advising practice by creating a series of problem solving products and services under the umbrella of what I call the Mobile Mini- Conglomerate, a 10-part wealth producing machine based on the information and problem solving processes you have at your disposal. With the Mobile Mini-Conglomerate progressively in place, you will free yourself, forever, from the time trap and make yourself recession proof as well, thereby eliminating one of the greatest anxieties of the advisor who otherwise rightly worries about an over great reliance on too few problem solving services.
This is a unique book which goes way beyond the usual run of consulting and advising books. But that doesn’t mean it’s an easy or even an effortless book. It’s not.

NOTE: Comes complete with special video recordings of the author, Dr. Jeffrey Lant reading each chapter of the book.
This book came about after facing my own personal nightmare. My life changed from a happy joyous thing full of possibilities to that which was threatened, my end no longer just problematic, no longer possible, but probable; now flashing before my eyes, just the way the movies say.
Such great consequences from such a trifling act... falling down. This fall and blow to the head had everything necessary for my personal demise, rendering me unconscious.
When I awoke I could not move. I was trapped in the darkness.
Now I began to know terror.
I looked upon my own body, unable to move and I knew the deep despair of separation, life from death, hour after hour.
Welcome to Spooky Stories.
There are two kinds of terror... slapstick and intellectual. Slapstick terror is the kind where predictable ghosts, ghouls, witches, sorcerers, appear to do some hideous deed, which is manifest by mass chaos, confusion, mayhem, and panic.
I am not frightened by this kind of terror, though I may be startled by it, which is not at all the same thing. Instead of this slapstick approach, and purists may cavil at my use of the term, I confess to being terrified by the only true terror that is terrible, and resides forever in your own mind. All the great writers of intellectual terror, starting with my esteemed colleague Edgar Allen Poe know that by seizing a man's mind, and glimpsing what horrifies him, he will thereafter control that being, in all his times and situations.
Think for example of Winston Smith from the novel "1984" (1949) by George Orwell. His captors had discovered his deep and abiding fear of rats. And so, when they wanted to control him, which they did sometimes for the sheer joy of it, they had but to show him pictures of writhing ratdom, and he was rendered paralyzed by his own personal fears. That is what a true terror writer aims for. For each of us may be controlled by a thing, a thing which the next person in life's queue may find harmless, innocuous, even pleasant.
This is the great secret of terror. Terror must take the thing you most love and turn it into a missile of destruction and hate... a deep, abiding fear and devilry. To each man, his own terror and God help us.
I have long had an interest in stories of apprehension, terror, confusion, puzzlement, and I have watched as the great writers use their talents to transform a little thing into the greatest of menaces... as I do in these spooky tales.
There are five stories in this book, each of which explores an element of the fragile human condition in which anything may be turned into a missile of destruction, lamentation, and grief.
