Directions
To Clean Tubs, Toilet Bowls, Sinks, Porcelain, Cement, Stucco and Brick: Mix equal amounts of CLR and warm water. Apply directly to calcium, lime or rust with brush, cloth or sponge. Rinse promptly with cold clean water. If stain does not disappear, use CLR full strength, wipe and rinse promptly. Coffee Makers: Mix 1 part CLR to 8 parts water. Run through automatic machine as if making coffee. Rinse thoroughly by running 4 full pots of cold clean water through a complete cycle. Do not use CLR in coffee makers that hold water permanently. Coffee Pots, Pans, Tea Kettles and Humidifiers: Pour enough CLR to cover bottom and use brush or sponge to wipe away any stains. Add hot water and allow to soak for 2 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with cold clean water. Dishwashers and Washing Machines: Run empty machine without detergent up to main wash cycle. Stop machine and add one-half cup CLR. Finish cycle. Run one additional full cycle (wash and rinse) with water only to rinse machine fully. Shower heads: Mix equal amounts of CLR and hot water. Submerge shower head and soak for 2 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with cold clean water. Repeat process if necessary. Wear household rubber gloves. Always stand on a non-slip surface for all cleaning jobs. Do not use CLR on natural stone, marble, terrazzo, colored grout, painted or metallic glazed surfaces, plastic laminates, Formica, aluminum, copper, brass, steam irons, refinished tubs or any damaged or cracked surface. May etch older sinks, tubs and tiles. CLR may return older cement to its original white appearance. Avoid contact with wood, clothing, wallpaper and carpeting. Always test all surfaces in a small hidden area before use. Always avoid prolonged contact with any surface. After 2 minutes, rinse promptly and thoroughly with cold clean water.

I used CLR to remove hard water build-up around a few sinks in my home. I used it straight out of the bottle and let it sit for a few minutes. With some scrubbing it removed the build-up. The next project was the shower with glass wall and door. It was a mess of water spots and soap scum. I tried regular household cleaners, WD40 and some other "secret weapons" found on the web - no luck. I them wiped CLR with a soft sponge all over the shower and let sit for a few minutes. Next up, scrubbing and rinsing -success! Most of the spots were gone and the glass looked much improved. Keep in mind, it takes work, not just spray 'n wipe.

See for yourself how well it removed the most stubborn stain I had ever faced. Straight bleach couldn't even touch this thing but CLR and a stiff brush removed the stain very quickly!

A problem that occurred in our old toilet was that some kind of scale or calcium build-up prevented the flapper from sealing the tank properly, so that the float valve was being continuously activated. We drained the tank and let a quarter inch deep of CLR soak overnight. After that the flapper was once again able to seal the tank and the float valve was no longer constantly triggering.

As a homeowner, CLR has been our ‘go-to’ staple for a tough mineral and calcium build-up remover for over 30 years.

We used it for all sorts of cleaning jobs when we lived in the Northeast, and we use it more often since we now reside in the Southwest.

Here in the Southwest the water is extremely hard, and one of the worst places in the country. Our water is loaded with mineral deposits that clog pipes, block drains, and the calcium deposits both stain and eat away the metal. We use CLR to clean and open the clogged nozzles on all our shower heads and water misters, both inside the house and outside in our yard.

I use CLR to clean the inside of our dishwasher, when detergent, calcium and mineral deposits clog up the bottom drainage grate. Additionally, it removes the detergent and mineral blockage from the little holes in the dishwasher spin blades.

My Cleaning Method:
I remove all dishes and flatware so the dishwasher is empty; however, I leave all the dishwasher racks inside to receive a cleaning. I start the dishwasher and let it run for 2 or 3 minutes, until the water at bottom is about 1/3 to ½ full. Then I add ½ cup of CLR to the water at the bottom, and let the dishwasher run a full cycle to clean. When the dishwasher has finished, I use a toothpick to clean out any dried up debris that may still be in the spin blade holes. Then I run the dishwasher a second time, to wash away any leftover CLR, because I don’t want any residue when I clean our dishes. Although the result is not perfect, it’s still about 80-85% better, which is very satisfactory for our old machine.

I have lately used CLR on our deep laundry room sink that we use for all the dirtiest jobs in our home and this includes cleaning any garden things.

I like this a lot, cleaned my tub pretty well, in the 2 minutes described in the directions. (i used it watered down
(1/3 CLR, 2/3 WATER) and kind of just poured it onto the tub, waited and rinsed it off/

It cleaned a layer off, so although the tub seems to be matte now instead of shiny,
it looks like its gone thru a deep cleaning~ much improved!
-better than the bleach
-better than the vinegar/Dawn soap concoctions
- better than scrubbing w ajax!

Im gonna try to clean again but leave it on a bit longer than the 2 minutes, and with a spray bottle. to see if it can disappear some stains i missed the first time! I did see a lower price in the supermarket (7 or something) but its worth the money and im not returning it! (:

I used this about every 6 weeks to clean out my washer. I did the BIG mistake a year ago by pouring a lot bleach and scorching hot water and letting it sit in my washer over night. I thought I was getting all the buildup off by doing this and boy was I wrong. The worst part is it took a few weeks for me to realize the damage I had done! My clothes starting coming out with rust stains. I kept reading for different type of remedies and nothing solved my problem. ONE empty load with CLR and the rust was gone! Now I just maintain it clean by using it every 6 weeks

I turned to CLR to resuscitate a badly rusted electric motor. It helped a lot, but ultimately I found using a phosphoric acid-based cleaner along with a wire brush attached to my electric drill to do the trick more efficiently. The phosphoric acid products convert rust (iron oxide) into an iron phosphate precipitate, after which one can remove it from the surface with a wire brush. CLR seems to just dissolve the rust into solution, which is more difficult to clean up. Perhaps CLR would be more useful if I could immerse the part in it for a long period of time.

I'm a bit confused about the negative reviews. I've used CLR a few times on rust stains in my toilet and it's worked beautifully. I had a rust ring around the top inside of the bowl, poured a bit of CLR on a sponge and it wiped right off. I had tried scouring this before without any success. Maybe there's something that works better out there, but I haven't found it.
