Jenny Boyd, I love your book. You are so open and honest. The 60’s were crazy times. I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. I loved to go to concerts in Golden Gate Park. I remember seeing Jefferson Airplane perform there. Oh, those were the days. I think this book gives the readers such a true insight of the 60’s and everything that was happening in Jenny’s life. How I wish I could speak with her. Yet, her book comes as close as I’ll ever get to knowing her. It’s a beautiful book. The ups and downs are all so real. Your heart breaks for Jenny. This book is for anyone who grew up in this era and for those of us who loved the music of this time. Thank you Jenny Boyd!

I am glad I didn’t listen to someone posting a review on here about this book not talking enough about Jenny’s experiences during the Swingin’ Sixties. Not true. What the person might have been hoping for were more tales of decadence. While she admits to doing coke and drinking during the heady golden era of rock sand roll, Jenny was raising two daughters while Mick Fleetwood was touring with Fleetwood Mac. She did go on the road but seemed to be more of the homebody type. The point is that this book is interesting not only for the stories she tells about famous musicians (her sister Patty was married to George Harrison at one time) but also about her growth as an individual. So it’s inspirational, too.

I really didn't know what to expect when I saw this 'new book' in my suggested books list on amazon, but since I have an interest in how musicians and their families survive fame, I picked it up. I had no knowledge at the time of Dr. Boyd's subsequent studies in psychology. I was mostly interested in whether she would include any interesting details on how Mick Fleetwood interacted with Lindsey Buckingham, given his more recent actions involving Lindsey. All in all, I was pleasantly surprised by how well Dr. Boyd writes and have ordered the book based on her PhD dissertation regarding musicians and creativity.

I waited forever for this book’s price to go down & finally just went ahead & bought it. I was that anxious to read it as I love the period of the mid - to late 60s, I guess I was expecting to like it as much as I liked Patti Boyd’s book. Of course that’s not fair to compare the two or their autobiographies. I was really disappointed at the quality of the author’s writing. If she used the term, “Swinging Sixties,” once, she used it a dozen times. How very unoriginal. There was just not much there. I kind of thought it was more like reading a magazine article. Beautiful cover though.

A very interesting autobiography that came across as honest and humble. There were times I found myself wanting to yell at Jenny "what are you doing! Don't!" Her tale was exasperating in that she too often failed to assert herself and look out for her interests. But, her story seems to have a happy ending as she educated herself, became more independent and assertive, and made a meaningful difference to those who needed help.

I wish it could give this book a 4.5. It was one of the better autobiographies I've read. The author has a lot to brag about: being drop-dead gorgeous, marrying and having famous musicians fall in love with her and being there at the beginning of lots of rock legends. She minimizes the boasting and self-aggrandizing and focused more on her struggle to feel worthy. Addiction, family dysfunction and the problems that come with game are the main characters here.

The book is easy to read with many of anecdotes about the musical production of the 60s, 70s and 80s. The heavy use of alcohol and drugs had its toll on the family life of these performers. The author shows a genuine openness to reveal her perceived reality of these decades of rock and roll through her family life. Looking forward to read her book based on interviewing the many musicians of these decades about their craft of music creation and production.

This book is everything you want and more. I have read — no I have savored every single page, every sentence, every word. The beautiful lady on the cover whose name is Jenny Boyd tells her life’s story. She paints a vivid and enchanting picture of the early days of the hippies, the 70s music scene in America and she has every right to do so. Jenny — ex-wife of drummer Mick Fleetwood & Ian Wallace, sister in law of the Beatles very own George Harrison as well as Eric Clapton, muse to the one and only Donovan, who titled a song Jennifer Juniper, just for her.

If you are looking for sensational, lustful stories about Rock and Roll stars, gory details about the music world, this book is all wrong. She tells stories alright, because she‘s met them all, the Beatles, Clapton, Donovan, Bonnie Raitt, Bob Dylan, Ronny Wood and obviously Fleetwood Mac, but she doesn’t indulge in the myths. She brings to us an honest, very personal but none the less enchanting and captivating portrayal of the time and the people passing through her life.

The book is very much an autobiography but still a must for every lover of music and musicians. Upon first picking up the book I was glued to it just flying over the pages as it really is so well written. She makes you feel like you are right there with her in San Francisco in the late 60s experiencing the early stages of the growing hippie movement. She tells about her own journey of growth and how she was able to finally find a purpose in her life. The entire book is very self reflective which is a relieving personality trade in a world full of self absorbed, self-selling celebrities.

Jenny Boyd, who has a PhD in psychology to add to her exceptional writing skills and incredible life experiences is made of the perfect material to write a book about her life‘s journey and make it readable like a fascinating novel. Conclusively spoken — the comments on the back of the cover say it all — go get this book and buckle up for one hell of a ride.

I like Jenny Boyd’s writing. This was an interesting and easy read. I like, how on one hand she knows what a different world she lived in and appreciated it, yet it also seemed so normal to her. It was what she knew. She sometimes states things so matter of factly but then talks about how incredible it was that she was experiencing these things. Maddening, was Jenny’s lack of self esteem. Arghhh . . . I wanted to give her so many talking to’s. She put up with a lot and kept putting up with it over and over, when it would have been easy for some people to see that they were being used and manipulated. Yes, she was shy and sensitive, but why did she do the things she did? Why did she keep putting up with such crap? It was a good psychological read. I think the moral of the story from her perspective, is drugs and alcohol sent her in the wrong direction, whereas abstaining from these made her take chances she wouldn’t normally have. She learned to believe in herself without the crutches of these vices. She started to trust her own instinct. She became successful on her own. That’s pretty cool :)

Again drugs play a major part but she, like a thankfully ever-growing number, saw the light and got on with life. Given her close relationship with George Harrison and many others, Jennifer was right at the coalface and saw the very good, and plenty of not to good, times of that world. Not holds barred and a really good look at the music through those times. Worth the time to read it from end-to-end.
