I tried to have matching hangers in my closet, but they were the cheap tubular ones from the discount store. The Jeronic hangers are flatter (although still slightly rounded) and thinner than the tubular hangers. They take up less space in my closet. The have a small groove in the shoulder of the hanger for straps but I find that the flocking is enough to hold even the thinnest of straps from slipping so I don't really have to put them in the groove.
I've been interested in the Joy Mangano Huggable Hangers for years but thought that they were too pricey. I recently saw a set of them from Target. They were about 60% more expensive than these, there were only 24 hangers, and they were made in China. I suspect that the Jeronic hangers might be made in China but I have not confirmed that. If you were thinking about getting the Joy Mangano hangers, then these would certainly be worth considering. These hangers look to be close to the same size as the Mangano suit hangers. These measure about 17 1/2 inches wide, about 9 1/2 inches tall and about 1/4 inch thick.
There are no instructions (do I really need instructions for hangers?) except that on the box, rather noticeably, it says "Before use, please dip in the water." I could figure out no reason to do this unless it was to rinse off flocking fuzz or any residue from manufacturing. I did not rinse off the hangers before using, but I did look them over and didn't see or feel anything that would necessitate washing them. Will the flocking hold up after repeated use? I have no idea. I can picture in my mind some cheap toys and ornaments where flocking wore off, so I rubbed a hanger with my thumb rather vigorously and didn't rub any off. I also didn't know if they will hold heavy clothing such as coats. I put one of my winter coats, a leather one with full lining on a Jeronic hanger. It isn't sagging. I did take a photo of the plastic hanger that the coat had been on. It was so misshapen from the weight of the coat I'm not sure how it was still hanging other than it may have been wedged into place in my coat closet. The new hanger will certainly be no worse than the previous one and right now it seems up to the task. I didn't get these with the intention of hanging winter coats on them. As it is, I don't have enough hangers for everything in my closet. I really like the look of the thinner, sleeker hangers and would love to have them all matching. So, my next decision is to buy more of the Jeronic hangers or get rid of some clothes. Who am I kidding? I'm sure I'll be buying more hangers. I received this product for free in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
The downsides: They're very easy to break. A few arrived broken in every box I ordered. (Amazon took care of this for me.) They can be difficult to slide into shirts because of the tacky feel (which helps tank tops from sliding around on them), so you have to be careful. I broke a few doing this, and I was being very gentle. I'd never hang anything heavier than long-sleeve tops on these. I can't imagine using them for heavier coats.
All in all, these serve their purpose, as long as you understand the caveats.
