This book of the Apostles and Prophets, or Prophets and Apostles, are Learn Christ from the Apostles and Prophets, back in about 1990, was the first Bible commentary written, and only recently when I saw the need for one in depth and thorough Bible course, did it occur of the necessity to get it out there for both the consumption of Katy McMichael, a Christian brain of "sound mind" and to complete in public availability (beyond the free downloads of SunGrist websites) the 7 volumes of the Learn Christ Commentaries. Actually, this is more than the equivalent of two Bible courses, a survey of the Old Testament and a survey of the New Testament, only in one volume, because it is primarily a study of the Bible Itself more than "about the Bible". It could be compared to a Baylor freshman equivalent course of Woodfin's survey of the NT using the RSV Bible Itself, or a UT Austin Bible chair course at University Baptist Church on the book of Acts where Acts itself was studied in the Moffatt translation. Romans under MacGorman at SWBTS in the summer of 1961 was meant to primarily use the book on Romans for which he was famous on campus, but as was the personal habit for Bible Itself, a complete study, teaching, and preaching outline was done on Romans to more than supplement the Bible course. If you have seen the seventh and second volumes of the Learn Christ commentaries on either Amazon.com or other numerous bookstores, you will recognize that the originality of this volume 1 was not changed; that is, the custom of all Bible quotes in green has been wavered for this first volume to help preserve the inspiration of the moment, first written on a typewriter and then later on a MAC computer and printed out on old printer sheets with the holes on the sides. (There was just no heart to change such marvelous moments of Bible concentration from 1985-1995 at Rosamond California while working second shift at the F-16 Combined Test Force at Edwards Air Force Base.} Ann came out to California later and with her marvelous sense of humor of expression, said, "The words just poured out the trailer when she opened the door." It was not long after coming to Rosamond as she had the habit of doing at least six times, she miraculous came out of the inability to walk, which started at Mineral Wells Hospital while on duty in the ER, and where the doctors said she would never walk again since her spinal cord was 99% occluded with a slipped disk. She went to work again as an RN at Ridgecrest and herself rented a nice trailer with an outdoor hot tub, the point being that the pouring out of pages in the Comfort trailer at Rosamond continued, and we had the weekends together at Ridgecrest. (Ah, the great memories!) And partly this paragraph is added for Katy as she is so much like her grandmother, Ann McMichael.) And quite frankly, as the final preparations were made for the publisher, there was a sense of amazement not unlike that of J. B. Philips stated in the preface to his translation of Revelation, "It was felt as if electricity was going through my body"; for it is still a marvel that God has allowed us to see the wonderful structure of His Design of His Book by using through the Holy Spirit and Prophets, through Jesus and the Apostles, the unity and consistency of the Bible by the way of the Old Testament quotes in the New Testament. You too, with continued reading and study, will be awed as the Great Design of the Bible by God the Father as you grasp and bask in the spiritual illumination of one quoted verse after another! In the final editing of this book, often a pause was made to revel in the spiritual insight of almost forgotten Scripture of the Bible, benefiting myself as I pray Katy and others will benefit from this volume 1 of the LCC.
Lately, especially on Facebook, disparaging words have ben said about the Old Testament as compared to the New Testament, which makes a mockery out of the internal structure of the total Bible God the Holy Spirit used to put in all together in a book o 66 books, that structure being the Old Testament quotes in the New Testament. It also makes a mockery out of the Jewish people of whom Paul wrote their chief advantage and contribution was "committed unto them were the oracles of God". It would seem that they are either admitted an ignorance or neglect of the Old Testament, or the Scofield followers find the Old Testament interferes with their addition of dispensations to the Bible. In either case, they can not be forgiven for minimizing or tampering with the total "faith once for all delivered to the saints". God speaks through His total Word, much in the New Testament is made clear in the Old and even more of the New Testament makes clear and builds on the Old Testament. There just is no Word of God without both Testaments.

Commentary on Ephesians: "This One Thing I Do" (12 Volumes of the Expanded Learn Christ Commentaries Book 8)
Aug 5, 2020
$5.19
A Prayer for All Christians.
Jesus shortly before His crucifixion prayed that all Christians might be one. "Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one " (John 17:20,21 KJV) Paul prays a similar prayer beginning in Ephesians 1115, expressing gratitude for love "toward all God's people" (NEV), "unto all the saints" in the KJV.
It is a prayer for Christian education, a. prayer to learn Christ, a prayer to learn truth with an insight that goes beyond human knowledge, for all Christians to have "the spiritual powers of wisdom and vision" (1:7 NEV), that "your inward eyes may be illumined " (1:18 NEV), so that you may know ... " ( 1:18 NEV) Know what?
"What is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of his power to usward who believe, which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, And set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come " (Ephesians 1118-21 KJV)
And here it is suggested that if we really know this, we can have peace among all God's people without causalities and combat among God's people.

Romans 1:18-20 “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.”
God’s wrath is revealed by the unrighteous who “suppress the truth.” The Greek word Paul uses for “suppress” is “katechō” and this means to physically “hold back, to detain,” or “to push down on” which is typically how the Greeks used it. It gives us the image of someone holding down or suppressing a coil spring. It is intentional so that’s why they are “without excuse” because they really know better. Why so? It’s because the invisible attributes of God, like the power that is found in nature, clearly demonstrate that a creation demands a Creator and it is really self-evident. They make a conscious effort to push back the obvious truth that God exists.
Romans 1:21-23 “For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.”
This supports what I just wrote; that they already know God and that He exists, but they still didn’t honor Him “or give thanks to Him” and that’s why “they became futile” (vain, empty) in their thinking. This foolishness darkened their hearts and minds. Today, the evolutionists claim, “to be wise” yet they are fools because they “exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images” (icons, idols like science and knowledge) of man and bird and beast and even “creeping things.” No wonder God says the “fool says in their heart, there is no God” (Psalm 14:1) but the original manuscripts read, “The fool says in his heart, ” no God.” The “there is” in there is no God is not in the original manuscripts, so the fool says to God, “No God!”

Chapter 9: Pre-Outline of Romans with Galatians and Peter. (Hermeneutics of comparing scripture with scripture)
Granted while the wonderful book of Romans is the most complete, systematic, and sometimes deep treatment of the one salvation of the Bible; Galatians is a miniature of the book of Romans, like the larger Romans of 16 chapters, Galatians of 6 chapters has a major theme of the One Baptism, or the One Salvation.
I. One Baptism is the One Salvation of the Bible.
1. The exclusive nature of Ephesians 4:4-6 on all the major subjects, alias doctrines of the Bible, demands that the One Baptism is the One salvation.
2. Salvation is sometimes hard to understand, and except for our incomplete personal experience we have only the Bible under the leadership of the Holy Spirit for understanding; and if you have already re-read II Peter 3:15,16, as mentioned in an earlier footnote, as introductory to Paul writing Scriptures hard to understand, Peter writes of in 3:15a that “the long suffering of our Lord is salvation”. Comparatively speaking, while the word “salvation” is big, deep, and full of meaning in the Bible, the word itself is infrequently mentioned.
3. With One Baptism as the main theme, that automatically makes Romans six, which some Bibles label as “dead to sin and alive to God”, the central thought chapter of the 16 chapters of Romans, and Romans 6:4 the gist verse.
“Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.” (Romans 6:4)
II. Don’t be overly awed at the 16 chapters of Romans, for at the top level it can be broken down into a 7-point outline .
1. (Romans 1:3-8) Initial and personal greetings from Paul as in everyone of his letters.
2. (Romans 1:14-4:25) “Every mouth stopped” and convinced like all the rest of the world, Jews and Gentiles, that they are sinners that “have come short of the glory of God”. Being short of the glory of God itself is sin, and God originally created man and woman in the glorified image of God.
3. Faith Counted for Righteousness (Romans 5:1 - 6:23)
4. What God does for us in Salvation (Romans 7)
5. What God does in Us (Romans 8).
5. The Status of the nation of Israel in the sight of God, and the new spiritual Israel of the new birth (Romans 8,9,10)
6. Natural applications to life and in life for those of the gospel of the kingdom of the one baptism (13-15:13).
7. Salutations (Romans 15:14-16:27) .

This message of Top Topic #1 covering all of Genesis and Exodus 1-20, takes the gist of these 70 quotes of the Bible and of the Pentateuch …that is, the gist of this comes from Exodus 3:6 where out of the burning bush, God identified Himself as the God of Moses’ father, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. This is the same God, the God of Creation of Genesis that we desire to know something about, to listen to in His book, and to pray to through the Lord Jesus Christ. If you have included in your studies the fictitious god of the Mormons and others, so different from the God of the Christian Bible, then you will also want to pray to the God of Moses, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and all our forefathers in the faith.
Since there are none other real supernatural powers than God and Satan, if you are praying to any other god than God the Father, the bottom line is that you are praying to Satan. We will distinguish this God from the other “gods” of the Bible like Baal and Astoreth–which while not real were so detrimental to the nation of Israel–as “The Living God”, and base this on what Jesus taught in Matthew 22:32 that “God is not the God of the dead, but of the living” after quoting from Exodus 3:6,15. The Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, sought to entrap Jesus on whose wife a woman would be in the resurrection from the dead when during her life she had married seven brothers, of course one at a time. {It sounds like a made up story; and perhaps it is in the nature of parables–that is still true, but general in nature–but we can see today, especially in Hollywood, where we have the ultimate in rebellion against God on Bible marriage, how a star could have at death behind them seven wives or seven husbands. You will recall also that Jesus encountered the woman at Jacob’s Well in Samaria, who attempted to miss-lead Him about no having a husband, to have hear Him say, “Well spoken; for you have had five husbands and the one that you now have is not your husband.”
NOTE: It is important to understand this. Jesus is not telling the woman to divorce her present husband. What is important for that woman, Hollywood, and against the current trend in America today is to obey God on marriage, and where it is too late for initial obedience, to stop rebelling against God’s right to tell us what to do and how to do it. Stop rebelling and ask forgiveness: that is all that is required of you according to the Bible.
Genesis is the book of beginnings: the beginning of the universe as God created the heavens and the earth, the creation of man and woman, the beginning of God’s first commission to man to subdue and replenish the earth the beginning of marriage and the family, unfortunately also the beginning of sin and the work of Satan on earth . Less obvious in Genesis is the beginning of the warfare between the seed of Christ and the seed of Satan of Genesis 3:15. Also less obvious is the beginning of the Gospel in Genesis 12, where Abraham, according to Paul had the Gospel preached to Him. {You might easily say that God Himself was also preaching the Gospel in Genesis 3:15 when encompassed in that statement, not understood until the Apostles made it clear, was that Christ in His death on the cross would..."

“Preach the Word” symbolized Dr. R. G. Lee and Dr. Lee personified the preaching of the Bible. He wrote in a copy of his life story, “A Chosen Vessel” given to me by my wife Ann while Dr. Lee at Bellevue was our pastor: “The world has yet to see what God can do with the man that is steeped in the Word of God.” Well, it was impetus during many years of preaching; however, what Dr. Lee himself epitomized was the saying, for the world each time they listened to him heard the Word, heard thoroughly the Word, whether it was the most famous of his sermons, “Payday Someday” or from the weekly bread with which he feed his listeners in messages like “Bread from Bellevue Oven”. Dr. Lee simultaneously was an Orator—you are reminded of that if you read the words under the photo—a called man of God that reveled in the Bible, knew the Bible, and shared it peerlessly and incomparably with great convictions. I recall one Sunday night standing near the altar as another member of Bellevue made a typical statement that Dr. Lee was flattering, to which the immediate response based on how deep the Bible had sunk into his life, and how deeply the words “were hid in his heart that he not sin against God”, replied “I never flatter”.
The greatest honor of my life, other than Jesus as my Savior and Lord at age 9 in a revival by Hyman Appleman, is to be able to say that Dr. R. G. Lee not only licensed me to preach, but also set the supreme example like the Apostle Paul to “Preach the Word, be instant in season, out of season, reprove rebuke and exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine.
That time has come now and passed into even Christian fables from may pulpits, and what Dr. Lee preached and wrote in one message from Bread from Bellevue Oven which was entitled the “Menace of Mediocrity” has been fulfilled not only in his pulpit at Bellevue but also throughout his beloved SBC of which he was President, namely: “Times will come so bad that wrens back prey where eagles dare not perch.”

Gospel of Prosperity and Success: The Gospel of World Love (SunGrist Gospel Series Book 4)
Jan 21, 2019
$3.69
It is not only the Gospel of Prosperity we must abhor as unsound doctrine and avoid, it is the corollary of the Gospel of Wealth in the History of American Thought that is called the Gospel of wealth and the corollary of success. Of course, those of worldly success can be dominated by the same false motivations as of prosperity and wealth. Why? Because the Gospel of Prosperity and Success is the Gospel of World Love. Perhaps you will understand it best as the “love of the world” of I John 3 or the “be not conformed to the world” of Romans. Not only any millionaire preacher today has sold out to the love of the world and these things, but anyone friend overtaken by pride of life is exhibiting more love of the world and things in the world than the Love of God. At this extreme has come what Dr. Peter Jones calls the paganism and Gnosticism of Modern theology, Bible studies, and millennial thought. Difficult to understand until he quotes Romans 1:25, you remember how the chapter is both individual and civilization paganism at work, repeated in every generation and climaxed and made evident and obvious with promotions of homosexuality, but with the falling away in churches and in the world, it has come to dominate American Thought. (Christian intellectuals call it the Passion of Western Civilization.)
Dr. Jones, from the UK, tells of how Christian was America in 1961, thinking that as a strong Bible believer he had gone to heaven, then teaching abroad and coming back in 1991 to a Christian cultural shock which he calls paganism and Gnosticism. It would be offered here that the repeat of Romans 1 is their program and agenda, then their rationalization is going back to the Gnosticism that Paul fought in early churches, a Gnosticism that sought to replace a transcendent, above all and apart from all Heavenly Father, with some kind of secret knowledge within them, some like to call it a divine spark. Much like the operation of Giglio’s Passion Conferences today.

Learn Christ Bible Commentaries Volume 1: Prophets and Apostles, a Bible Sweep (Learn Christ Commentaries)
Nov 18, 2018
$33.15
10 reasons why Prophets and Apostles should be your one in depth college level Bible course:1. It is like a Study Bible as it is so thorough on both the Old Testament (Prophets) and New Testament (Apostles).2. It is a free book in PDF with the options of later owning it in Paperback and Kindle for a lifetime of reference.3. Since Seminary students after six years or more of study of Theology and Bible find the Bible is a closed book because (1) a lack of will to do the will of God, and (2) failures of spiritual discernment, in Prophets and Apostles you are encouraged to find the open Bible of Authorized Semi-Public Interpretation (ASPI) of II Peter 1:21,22.4. All the Bible is important; however since what is most important in the Old Testament to be known is quoted in the New Testament (NT) with over 200 quotes, then in the NT the meaning of those quotes is explained and implemented.5. Counter to the recent trend to ignore the OT, SunGrist in Prophets and Apostles, recognizes the approach of Jesus of neither jot nor tittle will be neglected in the totality of the Bible.6. In the approximately 400 pages, you are reading and studying the Bible Itself and not about the Bible, a remedy for the bad habits of superficial theology filled with the wisdom of men. Yet the scholarly work of men like Sampey, Hester, and B.H. Carroll are honored.7. Prophets and Apostles is written around the internal structure of the Bible Itself, one might say that structure is the backbone of the Bible and the method through which God the Holy Spirit worked in over two thousand years of history with dedicated Prophets and Apostles and Jesus.8. Old and New Testament is about the Lord Jesus Christ, consistently teaches on the Gospel with a focus on How to Properly Learn Christ.9. Prophets and Apostles recognizes that the Bible is more a guidebook for living than a doctoral dissertation, with internal requirements to be understood as no more book, personal requirements for the individual in touch with the Holy Spirit.10. The Reader and/or student can visualize in 12 Tables the internal structure of the Bible from Genesis to Malachi, and provides an easy topical outline of the Bible in 12 major subjects, starting in Genesis with The Living God of the Living and ending in Malachi and Prophets with The Living God wants Others to Live.NOTE: By the way for you teachers and preachers, or would be, there are many outlines for Bible teaching.

There is no substitute for the reading of the Writing Prophets themselves even as there is no substitute for the actual reading of the NT and the whole Bible. Like one Bible teacher said many years ago, “Read your Bibles, they will throw a lot of light on the commentaries.” Then again with something as difficult as the Writing Prophets, especially in order to ascertain the relevance for today, some guidance is helpful based on hours with those Writing Prophets. When Philip the evangelists’ caught the Ethiopian reading from the queen of the Writing Prophets, Isaiah, Philip asked, “Do you understand what you are reading?” The Ethiopian replied, “How can I except some man should guide me?” Thus each reader of the Writing Prophets or of a commentary such as this on the Writing Prophets needs to have some nudge like for the Ethiopian in the direction of Christ and other things most clearly known in the NT to help with the OT . Often you will find in the pages of this commentary the statement “What God considers most important in the OT in order to quote in the NT”; and that is the real “study guide”, that and the ASI for Authorized Semi-Public Interpretation. While this is a day of “itching ears” Bible teachers with either “private” interpretations of the Bible, out of the total context of the Bible; or even more popular Bible teachers and preachers who claim for themselves extra-biblical interpretations. Yet Peter wrote in II Peter 1:20, and that Word of God still stands like a prophecy against any man or woman who would claim to have a private interpretation that glories themselves and makes a profit, “no prophecy of the Scripture is of any private interpretation”. God Authorized a more public interpretation consistent with all the Apostles and Prophets; and it would be the API if it were not for the fact that academic scholarship or credentials or even popularity is not sufficient for the understanding and teaching of the Bible, hence the ASI for Authorized Semi-Public Interpretation. Perhaps the biggest mess ever made with the Bible of the OT among any society was by the religious leaders of Judaism during the life of Christ; and while we will not repeat here the labels Christ had for these scribes, Pharisees, Sadducees, and priests of His day, you will recall that they were blind, they could not understand, and they had come to substitute the teachings of men for the commandments of God. Well, that is happening again today as we see an unbelievable number of men and women who teach the Bible for profit; and we appreciate some of the extent today of the popular “heaping up of teachers with itching ears” of II Timothy 4:3,4, which matches if is not greater than the present intolerance among church members and denominations of sound doctrine.

Gospel of the King and the Kingdom (Somebody has to say it!)
I. Kingdom in Volume 3, the 14 Letters of the Apostle Paul.
Just sitting out there at Rosamond, in the middle of the Mojave Desert and close to flight test engineering work at Edwards, in the Comfort Travel trailer with a typewriter, and the desire to condense the Bible better in 7 volumes than Carroll did in 17, and In the original writing of the believe and be baptized volume 3 of the LCBCs, in no way was it intended to be a dissertation on the “kingdom”, the Bible research and writing was intended to be on the 14 letters of the Apostle Paul, and indeed it was, but as always in the commentaries of SunGrist, good hermeneutics demanded in context, and even the teachings of Jesus got in the act; of course, which was in turn demanded by the collection of all the New Testament on the word kingdom. Later, while becoming so frustrated with both the Scofield mites with their futile efforts to distinguish between the kingdom of God and the kingdom of heaven, and books about the subject, it was stumbling efforts much like the many discoveries were made in Physics, to find in previous volumes of the Learn Christ Bible Commentaries, so much on the kingdom. In volume 3 alone, as running the find search on “kingdom” it showed up 311 times. Here at the beginning of the King and the Kingdom is an effort to briefly summarize those 311 in volume 3.
First in 5-7: Gospel of the King and the Kingdom, page 101.
Later we must get into the Bible on “Gospel” which is also found 274 times in the NT, which should be no surprise as Jesus came “preaching the Gospel of the kingdom”, unlike most preachers today who shudder to join the words in a phrase for fear of the Scofield mites or that they might identify with that crowd since 1909 (publication by Oxford Press of the Scofield Reference Bible with a contract to Scofield to promote the Zealots, something Jesus refused to do). Scofield was under contract to make a lot of money from Oxford Press to promote the Jews in the establishment of a new modern kingdom (country) in Palestine, and a very shrewd and subtle person this former lawyer was, he realized that his attacks on the real meaning of the Bible had to be focused on THE KINGDOM. What many of us Southern Baptist, even those not of the Pre-Trib persuasion have failed to both realize and admit publicly until the recent collapse and demise of the SBC is this attack inspired by Satan, Darby, two gays profs of Greek at Oxford University, and the Oxford Press was also an attack on THE GOSPEL itself! Well, shocking yes, but stop to think if Jesus preached the “gospel of the kingdom”, and Scofield followers after Scofield modified, really distorted, the Bible on the kingdom half of the gospel of the kingdom, then of necessity they were slaughtering almost silently with the Scofield notes the very nature, message, and salvation of the Gospel. In 1909 and following it was earth shattering almost as great as and simultaneous with Commager’s “Watershed of American Thought” beginning in the 1890s.

Gospel of God's Psychology: In One Commentary on Ephesians (Gospel Tract Series Book 7)
Mar 10, 2019
$4.49
Paul’s bonds are on their behalf and for the sake of the gospel. His bonds, having brought him to Rome after the appeal to Caesar as a Roman citizen, slows down the persecution of other Christians. His bonds and afflictions remind them how relatively easy it is for them to be a Christian in Asia Minor and could even be prophetic of the persecutions of the book of Revelation that would endanger their "first love". His bonds of imprisonment remind them of contrasting bonds of peace They are to secure the shackles of peace, sparing no effort in order that the chains of attachment with other believers hold fast and like the Roman soldier and his bound prisoner, as firmly fastened with chains of oneness to the Godhead. Paul wanted believers incorporate in Christ and those BIC to be altogether and almost as he was, in that he followed Christ, except for the criminal’s bonds.
"Remember my bonds." in Colossians 4:18, a complete and stand-alone three-word sentence. In Ephesians 6:20 it is only "I am an ambassador in bonds". I think Paul knew between the writing of Ephesians and Colossians, while he sent for Timothy and Mark, that he was about to die. Luke, the beloved physician there all along, had already been encouraged to write the gospel of Luke and Acts, Mark had to get there before the writing of Colossians in order to be encouraged to write the gospel of Mark and that the churches would be encouraged to read his letter epistles.
"Remember my bonds" was an epitaph and an inheritance from Paul. It signified the way the winds would blow from martyrdom in Rome to persecutions in Asia Minor; and Paul had to set an example in death and in life for the seven churches in Asia Minor. It could be another title for Ephesians with an understanding of the bonds of peace, unity, and love.
