I would recommend this to any Mormon who likes history and is concerned about Jerusalem. It has more of a "Mormon" flavor that I expected and is perhaps just written for them.
The research is excellent and from some of it I will be reading more.

I LOVED this book! It's not a quick read (with the notes and appendices--both of which are definitely worth reading, too; this isn't a book where you want to skip the supplements--it runs at more than 550 pages), but it is an immensely enjoyable read. The first several chapters are dedicated to the history of Jerusalem, from Melchizedek to the modern age. The context they provide for understanding the city's special place is invaluable. The book then offers differing perspectives on the modern cultural and political milieu that must be navigated, and takes time to review the prophecies yet to be fulfilled for this great Eternal City. If you are looking for a better, more meaningful understanding of the Holy City, this is the book to read.

Many ideas come to mind when anyone hears the name Jerusalem. Yet few people know the real Jerusalem. This book includes in depth research and scholarship. This is a great book to enhance your knowledge of the fought over, enchanted, faith promoting and loved city.
