About the Author
A Michigan native who studied writing in school, Donna first came to Vegas to make costumes and soon was weaving the stories she heard in the back of the girls' dressing room into her first novel. Now she is the author of The Alexandra Merritt Mysteries, which include 'The Last Two Aces in Las Vegas', 'The Las Vegas Desert Flower', 'The Las Vegas Special', 'Rough Ride in Vegas', 'M.I.A. Las Vegas' and the recently released "The Las Vegas Sophisticate'.
Donna has written several other stand-alone thrillers, 'Desperate Ambition', about a political assassination, 'The Right Society', about a devout Christian family that moves into a religious community and finds it's easier to get in than it is to get out, and The Other Hand, about a famous athlete who leaves his family for a young, virginal girl. Shortly after they divorce, she winds up slaughtered. He is the primary suspect, but not the only one. Donna has a popular series of historical romances, The Manhattan Stories, 'Jessica', 'Pillsbury Crossing', 'The Cabin', and 'Kimimela'. A fifth in this series will be released soon.
Her light-hearted work,' Conversations With Skip', is the story of a shelter dog adopted by a young woman having trouble sleeping after her divorce. With his unusual ability to communicate, he is soon running her life, arranging her romances, and teaching her to laugh again.
Her most popular novel, 'Maude', the story of her Grandmother, is a #1 best-seller on Amazon and has spent multiple weeks on the Wall Street Journal's Top-10 list. 'Maude' is now available as an audiobook, was recently released in Italian and is currently being translated into Russian and German for upcoming international editions.
She has also written three screenplays, a stage play, poetry, short stories, and a children's story.
Donna stills takes occasional classes at UNLV and at writer's conferences and is an active member of the Anthem Author's in Henderson, NV.

expert, she raises a garden to carry them over in the winter. The garden was started in the fall. I live in the midwest and I really need her to tell me how you can start a garden late fall or summer and have it produce enough for 4 people. I got a real sugar rush from this book. If your whole idea is to escape from every bit of reality and live in that delusion of everything is wrapped up in a pretty bow then please read this book as for me I am reading something that will not rot my teeth. Please try Page from a Tennessee Journal by Francine Thomas Howard.
they would be famous for all time. I appreciate the price, but would pay more. I usually won't buy a book this short;
After reading Maude I put this author on my must read list. Of course Maude couldn't have the happy ending I would
liked fleshed out more. I was so happy God gave her romantic love to a good man (Jessica).
Jessica, felt always un attractive and when Mr. Belk wanted her hand in marriage her father really did not want to give it to him. As her father said to Jessica "He is just using you for your money". Marriage took place, Jessica's friends would tell her how her husband was cheating on her. Jessica, is a very strong individual who has gone thru so much with her husband with verbal abuse, and even being raped one time during there marriage. Absolutely, more to this story that only gets even better and better. I will read this story again with no problem being bored. I hope you enjoy Jessica as much as I did. A book you can not put down. Please Enjoy!
Donna has a way of writing that keeps you reading despite yourself. There is a Christian bent to her stories of the sort that might normally put me off, but it's organic to the story and not preachy. In fact, I like her character Jessica because she is so good-hearted, kind and non-judgemental. I had some issues with some of the plot twists, and I'm not sure I believe that a young woman who grew up so priviledged in this time would have been such a master of so many household tasks, but oh well, who cares. I was having fun reading, and rooting for her in the end. The book is fraught with editorial errors. A writer this good really needs a professional edit. It's distracting. But, that's me. I don't know if just anyone would notice. I am looking forward to reading the other books in the series, despite myself.
Trying to finish ... but, @ 63% on my Kindle I don't think I'm gonna make it to the end.
"Maude" was great, but this one kinda bores me.
Someone else mentioned editing ... do you mean like having the exact same sentence repeated within 3 consecutive paragraphs?
i.e., "Mrs. Webb's face turned crimson."
Why is that in there twice?
I dunno. I'm not a writer.
Edit: UPDATE 06-12-15
Finished .. finally!
Had a happy ending.
The story was well developed. I actually found it hard to put it down! This is the second book of her's that I've enjoyed! The first was MAUDE - a
true story about her grandmother (who led, what I felt, was a very tragic life). It seems a lot of bad things happen to some people and then there are those who somehow skate thru with the blessings of not having the tragedies.
