Top customer reviews
Well footnoted with primary sources, this book is surprisingly readable, suitable for the average interested person, with lots of helpful graphics along the way. (but a shame the many photos were not colour!). What surprised me most was that he makes a habit of pointing out the obvious within the gospel texts, and putting all of these together alongside outside sources strengthen his arguments. There are a couple of places where Evans stretches his assumptions, (he notes this too) but these are still much more feasible than most literature published in the last 200 years on the Gospels. Anyone wanting research ideas for New Testament studies would benefit from reading this book as there are so many rabbit trails that could be followed!
