Those who, on personally religious grounds would deny his sincerity need only to look critically at the sincerity of those who introduced them to the faith they now rely upon to guide them.
There is nothing wrong with faith in some belief. It is admirable that many do maintain faith in anything in this modern era. The problem comes in when one's faith is based upon half truths or untruths.
No one wants to think that they have been duped as to what they have faith in. But worse than that is clinging steadfastly to faith in something that has shown itself to have dubious edges.
Being a defender of one's faith is wonderful...So long as one knows what exactly one is defending. Unfortunately, certain religious leaders would have us believe that questioning any part of what we've been told to have faith in, is blasphemy of the first degree.
I maintain it is not. To accept any idea on its face without giving it full consideration, to me, cheapens the very thing one is told to have faith in.
For what IS faith anyway? Does having faith in something mean that to question it proves one isn't faithful in the first place? That should not be a part of having faith. To be asked...no...to be TOLD to be faithful to something one is not allowed to question calls into consideration the authenticity of what one is expected to be faithful to.
Something like that stands on a par with a parent telling a child the reason they must do something or other is because the parent told them to. Case closed.
As adults, we do not have to live our lives according to someone else telling us to do so because they told us to. That negates any reason for our obliging to do anything in the first place...or it SHOULD!!!
I, for one. Refuse to be obedient slave to the dictates of anyone or anything else. I have my own brain and I shall use it. If that threatens anyone or anything else in existence, it calls into question the validity and sincerity of the other. If that person or entity cannot stand up to my scrutiny, why should I have faith that they or it will faithfully see me through?
I should not. Nor should anyone else. Be strong; seek truth.
Did the custodian of the said letters refuse to allow a photo? I can't recall. So if it exists, we have to await the pleasure of the man who allegedly is keeping it secret.
There is quite a lot of interesting material and analysis that seems logical. However, should we base any beliefs on this story of visiting a secret vault? We'll have to wait for a different world in which truth is valued for its own sake, not for how much money can be grubbed by withholding or selling the unseen alleged document,
Not holding my breath for any earth-shaking news story about this.
