This is the first book I read by J.B. Duvane, but I have read other books by Jenna Chase; and I must say it was absolutely fabulous! It was also full of sex, sarcasm, and shenanigans yet heartwarming. I loved the characters of Malcolm McDaniel and Erica Blake. Malcolm, the alpha billionaire, is so freaking SEXY and adorable in the HOTTEST way!!! Erica is a flight attendant who is working on the private plane of Malcolm—taking his sister, her boyfriend, and girlfriends to Tokyo for a week for his sister’s birthday. Of course, being the alpha that Malcolm is, he stares at Erica the whole time on the plane. Whatever Malcolm wants, he gets! At first, Erica tries to pretend that Malcolm is not staring at her, but Erica finds herself quite attracted to Malcolm and the feeling is mutual with some sizzling chemistry. The pilot on the plane is Erica’s ex-boyfriend, Brad, which causes trouble in paradise for Malcolm. On the return back from Tokyo, there is trouble with the plane. What kind of trouble happened with the plane? Did anyone get injured? Did they arrive safely back to the USA? As Malcolm and Erica spend more time together, sparks of a different kind start flying, and when danger threatens their new relationship, Malcolm vows to do whatever it takes to protect Erica. Is Brad a threat for Malcolm or is there something else that threatens what he wants with Erica? This series will pique your interest and draw you in from the beginning to the very end.
Erica wakes up in the sand in the edge of the water. As far as she can see she's by herself. She climbs a huge rock and sees a man who's come out of the jungle. As she climbs down the rocks and runs to him, she realizes it's Brad, the pilot, her ex, and she's relieved that there's someone else alive. He had set the alert from the split front half of the plane and walked toward the beach. Subsequent chapters have Malcolm swimming from the downed back half of the plane to the island and meeting with Lainey, the other flight attendant. She had found the copilot dead but hadn't seen anyone else. A violent thunderstorm causes all four survivors to seek shelter under the rocky overhang where the two couples meet up, glad to have found each other, although Brad may be trying to move in on Erica again. Things are not happy in this paradise! Hah! Each survivor has tasks....but Lainey doesn’t return and Erica is too worried to relax and is determined to go out to find her, even though Malcolm thinks it’s too dangerous. Malcolm, Brad and Erica decide to all go out of the cave to look for Lainey but stay within site of each other and the cave. Erica finds Lainey returning from the plane because she remembered where it was and she has food, water, blankets and the beacon! Erica makes her decision between Malcolm and Brad (although that had pretty much been made). Lainey and Brad seem to hit it off. Malcolm and Erica trek to the plane across the island. When Brad and Lainey catch up, bad news---no communications.....But rescue choppers find them shortly after and bring them to an aircraft carrier. The deceased pilot was retrieved and the debris from the downed plane was removed. Although everyone went back to their 'normal' lives, angst-y Erica wouldn't answer any of Malcolm's calls because she decided that it was the mystique of the island, the adventure that made him say the things he said to her; that he didn't really mean any of it. That she loved him but he didn't really love her! Lainey convinced her to hear him out and Erica agreed. When she saw him and listened, all was perfect, because of course, he meant every word!! He had a few surprises for her, but I won't spoil those. You should read this last book! A fitting ending to this interesting story.
