Over the course of months of exercise using Jillian's DVDs, I lost weight DRAMATICALLY. (To give you an idea, I went from a size 28 down to a size 16. Keep in mind I'm six foot tall here.) There was no magic, no bull, just hard work, encouragement, and inspiration. The thing about Jillian is that while she's earned and deserves her reputation for being a tough trainer, she's not an unpleasant one. There's just something about her I respond well to; she's firm but fair during her workouts, and her enthusiasm for what she's doing is infectious.
Unfortunately, late last year, in addition to getting complacent, my husband and I were also hammered by weeks where nothing seemed to go right and we had to deal with one calamity after another... a burst water main, our car breaking down (repeatedly), the declining health of a family member... it just went on and on, and long story short, I fell into depression and packed nearly all the weight back on. (I was back to a size 22.) To say I was embarrassed was an understatement; I felt ashamed of myself, that I had let not only myself but my husband down, and instead of getting back on ye olde proverbial horse, I just made things worse.
Four weeks ago I had enough. For four weeks solid, I have done an hour of exercise every day (30 Day Shred and 6 Week Six Pack) and I've already lost over twenty pounds. I will also mention use a 2.5 or one pound weight when you start because the moves themselves are burning so much alone...oh use the weight when you are ready to, not to start off...I have been working out with weights so it wasn't hard with a 2.5 weight...
Other then using your common sense as to what you can and can't do and the side plank this workout is great!
Part 2 again do what you can the moves are great and burn a lot of calories! I just hold a plank pose when it gets too hard in part 2 and I'm still sweating up a storm.
I can say that I've lost major inches! The scale hasn't moved as far as weight, but my clothes are a dress size down, it's because mussel weighs more then fat and takes up less space. The scale will drop again, but I feel so much better, fitter and it's only been two months!
I like this set of workouts because Jillian isn't annoying, she's straight forward, and I've gotten results (you do have to work for them mind you, but it's so worth it) The stomach is an issue area for me, but I've lost overall inches lost count! If you put in the effort, you will see the inches drop, stick with it.
Over all I'm highly pleased with this workout DVD and plain on getting more of her stuff in the future.
Week 1 UPDATE: Just finished week 1 and changing review to 5 stars! I've lost 2 pounds but more importantly I'm starting to see some definition/ tone on the sides of my tummy. The lower flabby part is still not budging but losing another inch around my waist definitely means I'm on the right track! In her earlier DVD - 30 day shred - after the first week I'd turn the volume down and listen to something else keeping a stray eye on the DVD so I know when to change the routine, but for the 6wk6pk the routines change so quickly that I need to pay attention. And I love her motivational "stay with me! stay with me!" that a girl sometimes needs to push through. Re: the lower back thing I had on my first day, I haven't felt it since so I assume I must have corrected my form.
