Two smart, independent, and very cynical people (who both hate Christmas) meet while she is shopping. He is dressed in a Santa suit and she has just been run over by a crazy shopper's cart. He thinks she is spoiled and she thinks he is nuts. If you've ever seen Billy Bob Thornton as "Bad Santa," you'll have a good idea of the negative impression Nick makes on her, but she has had a very long dry spell when it comes to meeting interesting men. As they talk, they just fall into everything: insta-attraction, insta-like, and insta-lust. They go off together, have great sex, trade hysterically awful Christmas-themed sex puns and innuendos, then she comes to her senses and leaves.
What always appeals to me about the JS men and women is that they all exhibit such realistic thoughts, emotions, and vulnerabilities. Separately, Holly and Nick realize they want more of each other (besides the great sex) but they met as strangers, did not exchange names or numbers, and have no way to re-connect.
When they do meet, again by accident, she turns out to be a successful attorney, he turns out to be a billionaire business owner, and he carries her off, literally, into their HEA.
You have holiday spirit, silly humor, enough angst to keep it real, and a satisfying epilog to tie it all up. Perfect.
It's cheap, brief, and fun. Buy it, enjoy it, and smile.
