Purchased this USB microscope to help me practice removing and replacing pins on PGA-type CPUs, as well as other SMD repairs. For the price, it works extremely well. I recommend going with this model if you are planning to do small repairs on electronics once in a while.
Pros:
- image is clear and Zoom can be adjusted with the dial for clarity
- capture software/drivers were easy to install from the website
- software allows for view and image capture
- LED light can be adjusted using a dial on the USB cable
- Very low price compared to other similar microscopes
Cons:
- Hardware snapshot button works... but with the included mount the microscope will definitely move, requiring you to readjust. I recommend only using the screenshot button in the software, instead.
- Software automatically starts when starting Windows 10 and I couldn't find an option in the software setting to disable it, so I had to do it manually through Windows task manager.
- The driver software worked without issue in Windows 10, but I had some trouble on Ubuntu 20.04 using the recommended guvcview capture software. The hardware dial would always cause the software to hang. There are other recommended capture software packages for Linux distributions, but I did not try them, maybe they work better.

Great Value for the price - get the bundle with the better stand!
I work for a library and this is one of the most popular activities for the youth area!Pre-covid it was often used for hours at a time by groups of elementary school children.I bought one for work and another for home, and the "sturdy stand" for both.I did have to replace the first, lower power model I bought for work, but that was only because an unsupervised little troll stuck his thumb into the scope body and broke the interior zoom assembly.Under normal use (which includes running the nose of the scope body into the sample or the tray, and occasionally running the zoom assembly into a sample small enough to fit inside the nose - with moderate force on the focusing knob) this unit is fine.I'll skip the action pics, there are plenty on other reviews.I can see copper crystals on the surface of a US cent and hairs on the spines of a sand spur. Feathers are gorgeous. A line on the cent that is 0.1mm wide zooms to 37mm+ onscreen. This is not the maximum magnification, I dial it back a bit so there is extra space in the nose ahead of the objective lens in case a sample is forced through the opening. Again.UPDATE: If the amcap or other app seems to be freezing or dropping the device, it appears to be a driver conflict. Disable the stock webcam in the computer's device settings ant and the microscope runs for hours. As our microscope display uses an old laptop with a sticker over the webcam it wasn't an issue.I made a couple modifications to mine for use by the kids:I wanted a stable base with room for samples such that most samples could just be slid into view.1) ditched the original base for the rack and gear base.2) ditched the new base's base. It is tiny and I wanted something to keep a variety of samples in one spot. What I did was replace the base with a Nordicware 1/8 sheet, drilled to accept the allen head machine screws from the old base (or matching longer ones, I don't remember). I keep forgetting to add washers and lockwashers. 4 peel-and stick feet to give clearance for the screw heads and you are in business!3) Add a junk laptop and you have a 14" display.This setup has been on all day while we are open with almost no trouble. knocked over, picked up by the cord, scope, whatever, no problem. I consider the cord a plus as the cordless scopes fit into a pocket more easily.It would be nice of the lock knob on the base were better able to keep the "just right" tightness, I'll add a light lock washer or circular spring washer and see how it goes. Other than that it has been going great. I've bought four of them and another with the integral monitor.

The software "ViewPlayCam" don't work. So I am using windows default camera app. By disabling the default camera of my laptop from computer management.

y mas con los 8 leds que son de gran ayuda y me gusta mucho por que puedes controlar el nivel de luz de bajo hasta alto.
La caja viene con instrucciones para instalar pero todo es intuitivo y no fue necesario en mi ncaso. Cuando la cámara se conecta a un USB en la computadora, las luces de la lente se encienden y en ese caso podemos estar seguros que esta lista la cámara para funcionar.
En la caja viene un adaptador tipo c para celular que es realmente útil y viene ademas con un mini soporte aunque se cae a veces pero cumple con el propósito.
En realidad me gusto bastante y volvería a comprar mas microscopios están en un excelente precio y sobre todo tiene una buena calidad, los botones del costado uno ayuda para hacer zoom y el otro no lo eh ocupado creo que es para tomar captura.

There is effectively only two zoom settings, 40x and 1000x, as you cannot "slowly" zoom in, which is a bit annoying. The refresh rate at 40x is very good, almost real-time but at 1000x it is lacking a bit, so there is a big delay and it's very hard to see if the subject moves. Also the quality at 1000x is not super crisp (see pictures) but it does the job. It's definitely not a professional tool but its nice to have at home.
Other that that the build quality is decent and the stand is a nice addition. It does pack pretty small too for storage.
