About the Author

Joe Germanotta, or “Mr. G,” was born August 9, 1957 in Elizabeth, New Jersey and is the father of Stefani and Natali Germanotta. He has been married to Cynthia Bissett Germanotta since 1983, when the two wed in New York City in the small chapel at the historic St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

He is a graduate of The School of Hospitality Business, an industry-specific school within the Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State University. A devoted Spartan Basketball fan, he is a passionate supporter of the team during the “March Madness” NCAA tournament.

For thirty-five years, Mr. G has worked for large corporations, owned and operated several businesses, and now works as part of his daughter’s management team. In addition to his work in the music industry, Mr. G sits on the board of directors for Lady Gaga’s charitable organization, Born This Way Foundation.

Joanne Trattoria is his inaugural food-industry endeavor and the realization of his boyhood dream of owning a restaurant.

Having had the pleasure of dining at both Joanne and the predecessor restaurant many times, I was eager to read the story of the restaurant, the Germanotta family and learn how to prepare some of my favorite dishes. This book scored on all counts but, most importantly, in learning how the Germanottas are so well-grounded by two incredibly loving parents. I'm a big believer that a restaurant's ambiance either enhances or detracts from how the food tastes and the beautiful renovation of the space combined with knowing how close the Germanottas are as a family assures you of a delicious experience. After reading about Joe, Cynthia, Stefani, Natali, all of the incredible staff and, of course, Joanne, I cannot wait to prepare some dishes and also return to Joanne Trattoria for some unforgettable Italian food. The Nutellasagna is a "bucket list" item!

He said the recipes are all very good and the book is a fun keepsake. I thought the cookbook was going to be larger in size, it's kind of small, but I guess that doesn't matter. Also, all of the print and photos are all in black and white, not in color, which I thought was strange..it made it seem somewhat "cheap" to me, but it didn't seem to bother my brother. If you're a huge fan of this restaurant or Lady Gaga, I think you'll enjoy this!
