This does exactly what it is supposed to. I had to figure out how to use it but once I did it works perfectly. The secret is to take about 6 squares of regular 2ply and fold it over on itself until it is the size of about 1 1/2 square and tuck the ends into the holder side. When you press the release button it all falls away and you never have to touch it. :)

I pinched a nerve in my back and found that I could not bend at all to do the necessary things I needed to do in the bathroom. This product got the job done, but could be designed soooooo much better. It was cheap and so for the short period I needed it (a week) It worked. If you're looking at one of these for an extended period of time, I think it would be worth it to upgrade.
The things that could be improved:
1. I think if it were angled a little it would help
2. It does not hold toilet paper well nor does it hold wet wipes well. I rarely needed to push the button at the bottom for release because by the time I wiped the paper had fallen off. (Maybe I would have gotten better at it had I used it longer, but I don't believe so)
Pros:
1. It was cheap
2. Easily washable

I heard these break easy so I bought two to have one as backup. When I received it, I opened one to see how it worked. I read the instructions, and had read reviews. I pushed the handle as directed and it would not push in. So I pushed slightly harder and once the wiping end squeezed, it would not release. So basically it was broke before I ever got to use it. So I tried the 2nd one and it seemed Ok. But when I used it, it wiped poorly, and would not release the paper. So I do not recommend this product.

I just had Bariatric surgery done and was unable to reach, bend, twist and so on for quite some time. I purchased this item to help me while I was recovering and quite frankly, hated it. The spring loaded “button” to release the paper is extremely cheap. Where you place the paper is made out of rubber so the paper doesn’t just slide off or let’s go easy— it sticks to the rubber so it is very hard to get off. The part that is supposed to grab and hold onto the toilet paper doesn’t do that at all.. you just have to stuff it into the hole and hope for the best... While I was able to figure out a different way to use it, that way became unsanitary and sometimes messy which was GROSS. Very disappointed and quite humiliating. Like not being able to clean yourself after surgery wasn’t bad enough..

Up $#!7 Creek Without a Wiper.

I purchased this to assist me following surgery on April 6, 2016. On April 8, 2016 I began having problems with the internal spring popping out of the plastic handle and also with the spring getting stuck inside the handle with the paper release stuck in the release position. I had to wrestle with it each time to reposition the spring. This in turn caused the poorly attached rubberized hand grip to start to come off (only attached to the plastic with two spots of glue). On April 11, 2016, a mere five days after I began using this device, the spring popped out of the handle and wouldn't go back in. Being an engineer, and since the rubberized grip was already coming off, I removed the grip to try to re-insert the spring and fix the mechanism. I discovered that the metal push bar attached to the spring was loose and not attached to the paper release. The entire metal bar and spring fell out when I turned it over. I cannot get the metal bar and spring mechanism back in and the device doesn't work. I need a new device. In the meantime, I am up $#!7 creek without a wiper.

Useful but not as easy to use as it portrays

In my experience, the Long Reach Comfort Wipe did just an Okay job. The part about holding the tissue paper in that grasping indentation and releasing easily did not work for me no matter how I tried. Let's face it, you wrap tissue paper around it and clean yourself. The tissue paper is going to get dirty and wet and it IS going to stick to the unit. No matter how much I pushed the release button on the end of the unit, it rarely released the tissue paper. I had to manually, pull the dirty or wet paper off, a little bit at a time until it fell into the toilet. Not fun., but for a while it was all I had. Also, after about 2 months, the push button release broke. What really works for me is 15" medical Tongs which you can find here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000HZVP9I?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00. These are strong, easy to use and when you need to dispose of the paper, you open the tongs (which look like sissors) and those can break and dispose of any amount of toilet tissue you need to use. Check it out. The tongs work great.

For females: I would only recommend this for wiping urine- the handle is very long and a bit difficult to maneuver. However some help especially after surgery (I had a lower lumbar fusion) I brought this to the hospital with me and was at least able to wipe myself without having nurses help. I think they were probably happy about that too. I did not use for number 2, didn't need to THANK GOD but I would guess it might be messy. You have to get the paper in there just right and when you got to release it sometimes it gets stuck in there so you will have to help it along. (get the gloves) But I would recommend for anyone who is having difficult reaching to wipe yourself this was a great help to me.

Simple way to accomplish the task

I recently had eight vertebrae fused in my spine. There were many accommodations and limitations that I knew I would be facing. The one that was a surprise was the inability to reach well enough to take care of my own needs after using the bathroom. This simple device made it possible to be independent and retain my dignity when I returned from the hospital. First of all, I was surprised by its size. For my needs, it could have been half this size. That doesn't make it hard to use but it is sure not something that you could discreetly take with you when going out. The softness of the plastic helps to hold the toilet paper when you wind it around, which is good, because the indentation that is supposed to hold it in place and the button on the handle that releases it, really don't function well. If I had spent very much on this product, I probably would have given it a three. But because it was very inexpensive and does what I need, I gave it a four.

Great concept but it's too wide to get 'in there' so it doesn't do a thorough job. If they made the end part narrower it would work much better. Plus, the toilet paper or wipe doesn't stay in the end so it's hit & miss when you wipe. Had high hopes but was disappointed.

When you wash it, the wire down the middle gets wet and rusts and the brown water then comes out of the wand
It does not hold the paper or wipes right and the grips on the inside that hold these two items feel like nails and have cut me
