Pros: It is almost the ideal stand for those who use their ipad in bed or anywhere else and want the stand to adapt to the position wanted. I like this flexibility.
Cons: Many have said the back cover is a drag because you can't put a cover in front. Not a big deal for me but this would be nice. For me, the Joby when standing horizontal should have the leg connector on the opposite side. I like the home button to be on the right.
RIght now many of my legs are wobbly and have lost their tightness. I have popped pieces of the legs to switch them differently so I can have more stability. One side is strong that the other. I believe my Joby is dying! Would I buy another? I am not so sure. I am second guessing myself and will probably look for an alternative.
Why the product does not ship with this ability is beyond me but with a steady hand it can be modified.
The Joby GorillaMobile Yogi turns out to be a total boon to my iPad usage--I can grab the legs with one hand and easily hold it while typing on it with the other hand. If I need to use both hands for something, I can wrap them around my arm and use it unassisted. I can tilt it any way that best facilitates my view of the screen, and the legs bend to accommodate and support it. I can hook it on the top of a treadmill panel and watch videos on it without worrying that it will fall off the tiny plastic reading ledge. It has slots for the legs to insert in either portrait or landscape mode, but I rarely need to move them off portrait, because they easily support it on its side as well as upright. It's very light and adds very little weight to the iPad. If I have to stand it up in a small area, like an airplane tray table, the legs can be pushed narrow or wrapped around the edges of the tray if necessary. If the surface is uneven, the iPad remains stable because the legs can be made longer or shorter than each other to compensate.
The disadvantages: The slots on the back for the legs leave a good-sized hole in two places where the back is open to the elements; there is no screen protection; the area over the volume and mute buttons is all rubber, so the edging right there comes away easier than the rest that is backed by hard plastic. Of all the problems, my main concern was the screen vulnerability, however my solution was to purchase a heavy-duty sleeve which fits snugly around it with the legs clicked off, for transport. All the rest of the time it's open, however, even with a case that had a front cover (and with the exception of the fairly heavy/bulky Otterbox-type cases,) the screen would be open anyway while being used.
While I had my misgivings on ordering it, I've really been happy with the case. I can't think of another one currently on the market that would serve me better.
I have been using this product since August,2011 and I love this the most,so I decided to write a review for this product.
Although It doesn't has the cover to protect the screen, but I mostly use it at home or car, not really carrying out everyday. Doesn't matter to me without the cover protection.
I can easily mount the iPad on everywhere i want without any concern. Compare to traditional ipad case cover, I think this one provides me the maximum comfort when I use it while I am sitting on my sofa or bed.
