I've been using this Joby GorillaPod for a while now and I have to say that this can handle my Sony A5000 EASILY! I know this can handle bulky DSLRs because my friend uses his Canon 5D III on it. I know that tons of Youtubers like to use this for vlogging and it's amazing. It feels super solid and this thing can handle some weight! What I like the most about this GorillaPod is that I can fit it inside my backpack and I don't feel any extra weight at all. Another thing I love about this pod is the ballhead. It's super easy to rotate to the angle you want and to secure it in place. The legs are super long to wrap around trees, poles, and many more. The legs have rubber around the balls to keep the gorillapod secure in any place you put it in.

Now, the quick release feature on this gorillapod it's incredible helpful. I can attach and detach my camera off the gorillapod in a second! With this feature I can simply slide my camera into the pod and start shooting quickly. I love it!
The fluid head works perfectly I can position it at any place and secure it without a hassle. The leveler behind the quick release plate works perfectly. I can now see if I'm holding my camera straight or if I'm tilting it.

Getting the legs straight can be a pain if you have massive OCD like I do. You won't be able to fit this tripod in your pockets so keep that in mind. I bought this because I don't have a tripod for my camera and I thought it would be fun to wrap it around trees and strange places, carry it around without a problem, or even use it as a normal tripod. I will go out on a roadtrip with my friends and I think it would be cool to record some cool adventures. I hope this gorillapod can come in handy during the roadtrip.
I would definitely recommend this product to anyone!

I read the reviews here complaining about the weight not being supported but I have had no issue so far. I use a Pentax K200D with a battery pack and while I have not used my biggest lens "in the field" with this, I have tested it and once I got it balanced, it did fine. Im not sure I would try hanging it off the side of my car with a huge lens on but I feel more than comfortable with my lighter lenses.

If you are familiar with the Gorillapod concept there is nothing new about this one other than being bigger and having a ball head. The legs are big enough to wrap around a normal railing/post you would find in most touristy places. Bigger than a stop sign pole but smaller than a street light pole.

Attaching it to strange places is much easier due to the quick release on the ball head. You can position the pod, slide the camera in, test the load and then either adjust or start shooting.

My ball head is quite stiff to the point that if it has been unused for more than a day or two I have to push hard to get it "fluid" again. Not a bad thing in my opinion.

The quick release plate is small the level placement is excellent. I have gotten in the habit of leaving it on and using it to level my shots hand shooting. The connector is a screw and really needs to be tightened with a quarter so keep one handy.

If I had a complain it would be that getting the legs straight for storage can be a pain. It seems like getting one straight makes the others bent. This is not a "carry in a pocket" tripod and leaving it attacked would not be a good idea. I got mine on sale and I am not sure if I would have paid full price for it. Its a great product but the full price seems a bit excessive.

Style Name: Tripod
I bought this small tripod to take on a backpacking trip across glacier. Having read reviews of the smaller versions of this tripod I opted for the biggest one since I have a rather solid D200 with 18-200mm lens that I intended to use with this product.

First, the joints are quite firm, yes it will support the camera fairly well, however when the legs are bent too far from a straight tripod style the leverage will over come the joints and your camera will sag in frustrating ways.

Second, forget framing a shot in a reasonable amount of time. Horizen line off a little bit? Be prepared to fight the above slops and sags while trying to make precision adjustments.

Third, make sure when you buy this that you are not expecting small tripod style behavior. You can't throw this thing down, make a couple of quick leg adjustments and go. You will be screwing around for a good 5 to 10 minutes trying to force it to do what you could have done in less than a minute with a real tripod.

Bonus - the screw that attaches to your camera is a pain to use. It is not fixed to the tripod; it spins freely. Who has a screw driver around all the time to take it on and off? I ended up lightly screwing it on and off by spinning the whole tripod while holding the screw with my thumbnail. This sort of works as you fight the non-slip rubber on the camera and the tripod top. After the frustrations of using it and not getting what I wanted in the shots, fighting to take it on and off the camera can be enough to evoke choice words from the most patient...

Overall this product might be easier to use with a tiny ball-head.
