Review

"An eye-opening, heart-warming read about one young woman's journey to find happiness in a male-dominated world. Tessa was the perfect combination of sweet, smart, and sassy... just like the book! 5 huge stars!" - Erin Noelle, USA Today Bestselling Author

"Jock is one of the sweetest stories I've read in a long time. The characters and storyline are unique, unlike anything else currently available. I was pulled in from the prologue, already feeling tears in my eyes, and I was gripped for the rest of the entire story. CM Foss's writing style is beautiful and flawless and weeks after finishing Jock, I still find myself thinking about this beautiful story!" - Stacey Lynn, Bestselling Author

About the Author

Bio: CM Foss is a hopeless romantic with a love for the written word. When she was little, her mom would ration her books so she wouldn’t go through them too quickly. It didn’t matter, she would just re-read. She’s always been an avid equestrian, competing in the top levels of Three Day Eventing by age seventeen. CM now resides in Northern Virginia with her husband and kids where they own and operate their own equestrian business, as well as raising grass-fed, sustainable meats. She doesn’t have this thing people call “free time”, but she does spent a weird amount of time writing, reading, playing with her kids, milking goats, and drinking wine, while avoiding bananas at all costs. Other books by CM Foss include Shiver, Swoon, and City Beautiful.

One of the things I love about this series is it's real people falling in love, the highs and lows of love between the H/h, and not just the couple but the ripple effect of the love and relationships between friends and family. How the hardships of life, even the good times, drive us, mold and shape us, bring us together as much as tear us apart. Foss makes it so easy to fall in love with these characters. I loved seeing Lawrence as a young man, who we met in Shiver and Swoon. Even Lawrence's brother Shane appeared in Jock. He had only been mentioned in Swoon but had left his mark. In Jock, the impact of his relationship with his siblings and parents leaves a longer lasting impression on the reader.

Jock is focused on Tessa Brooks, Lawrence's baby sister, and Jace Hitchen, her big brother's best friend and surrogate protector. Growing up around horses, strong and fierce, Tessa dreamed of being a Jockey. A dream she worked hard every day to make come true. Jace grew up watching Tessa, a fiesty little trouble maker, who he always had a strong need to protect. Slowly, and naturally, friendship turned to something more. These two were so cute together. Tessa doing her best to keep things casual as she focused on riding and trying to balance all the people in her life, and Jace making it more than clear they were no longer just friends...or casual. As the pressure to succeed in her field and balance all the things in her life weigh heavy, the couple is challenged to figure out how to make things work.

Foss has a natural ability to bring relatable emotion to the characters and story. It draws you in. It makes you laugh, it makes you cry, it makes you want to sit at family dinner and share in the crazy. Personally, I would suggest reading Shiver and Swoon first.

I think I loved this story the most out of all of her books. To see the pure love between Jace and Tessa as kids grow into something so strong was so awe inspiring. It was hard to watch how hard Tessa was on her body and then to see her friend Cooper show her how to eat/exercise the correct way was heart warming. I laughed. I cried. I fell in love with Tessa and Jace!!

CM Foss has a way with her writing that pulls you so far into the depths of her world that readers can’t help but get lost. She has a knack for making readers fall in love with one of the passions that she holds most dear to her heart. I know this because her enthusiasm bleeds onto the pages of her novels. Jock takes a spin on her previous “horse” novels and gives readers a whole new insight into the world of jockeying. I absolutely loved seeing passion for a career and passion for a romance interlaced so closely together.

“Always at war with each other, my mind raced as my body melted in his embrace.”

As someone who has never watched the races or paid much attention to the life of a jockey, I found myself incredibly enthralled with Tessa and her choices. On the one hand, I couldn’t understand how she would make the choices she did based on something she thought her brother wanted for her. It seemed like the sacrifices were not worth the reward. However, as the book progressed, it started to make more sense. Her fire shone through and it made me love her all the more. As for the hero of the story, I instantly fell in love with him, especially because of how Foss introduced him. While the majority of the book is written in Tessa’s point of view, the first few chapters of Jock are written through previous events, all seen through Jace’s eyes. I thought this was so genius of Foss because it showed their connection, their history, and once you read it, you’ll understand why it was so easy to fall in love with Jace. He was so protective and fluid, yet determined. If I could throw in ingredients for my perfect book boyfriend, Jace would surely be the perfect recipe!

“We’ve gone at this, whatever this is, all wrong. All kinds of backward.

As I watched the Melbourne Cup, an international race event, a female jockey won. I understood the effort she went to because I was reading this at the same time. Pretty cool achievement . Anything CM Floss writes is great, I just click "buy" because I trust she will entertain, enlighten and enrich my world.

Sometimes you never know how things will play out...

What if you've known all along who your soul mate was? What if you chose a path that made you stray away from any parts of a normal life? You're always pushing yourself to the point of breaking but you still wonder if its enough... meet Tessa brooks

Tessa is far from normal and that's just the way she likes it. She is stubborn and has her mind set on what she wants and will do whatever she has to do to achieve it. That is until that one person who has always been there for her, alters her path.

Jace has always had a soft spot for Tessa. He's loved her ever since he laid eyes on her. But that's his best friend's sister, so it pretty much no go from the beginning. Over the years his resolves weakens and he just can't escape his true feelings.

Tessa and Jace's story is so special. At one moment, I wasn't sure if the relationship was going to happen but when it did... my goodness! Too good to be true!

I love this couple so much...Tessa is so stubborn and set in her way and jace is always there to support her no matter what.

Cm Foss has yet another masterpiece on her hands! This is a must read!!!!
