I’m a guy who likes to draw comics and needed a damned reliable comic book art template. I'm also a mild-mannered (depending on who you ask) graphic designer by day who has designed and maintained hundreds of templates. So who better to make one?

Blog postYet another in a fine series of how comics are made here at Stately Stupendo-Dog Manor!
Hope you enjoy. This is more of a showcase of how we make comic books here instead a true how-to article. But it's darn interesting, at least for the inks and colors. Nick and Fooksie do a FAN-TASTIC job on this stuff, I'm glad they have fun and like to help out in making fun comics!

- - - - - - - - - - 2017 UPDATE! Hello fellow comic artists! Not a whole lot has changed since this article was written. I still go into Michaels, or AC Moore, or Hobby Lobby and they sell the same types of paper with the same inconsistent borders. So I got fed up with it all and used made my own. I researched every comic book art board I could find, Marvel, DC, Image, everything from the Silver A10 years ago Read more
All right, if you’re reading this you are, or have been, frustrated with the process of potty training a stubborn kid. Maybe you’ve secretly and silently cussed the kid out (there’s no profanity in this book) and want the little angel to do his or her darned business.
This funny comic was inspired by true events, and most of the feelings illustrated are true. Even some of the facial expressions. The inspiration for the story had #1 taken care of but he wouldn’t not poop on the pot. We thought it would never happen.
This comic chronicles that frustration.
I Don’t Want to Poop on the Potty! A potty training story for adults, is written and illustrated by Mr. Simmons, author and illustrator of Dan the Exploding Bunny and illustrator of Santa Lost His Silly Ol’ Reindeer, a Christmas book written by his five-year old son. (The inspiration for this book!)
The hero of this story, Dan, is a bunny with a little exploding problem. His exploding problem is brought on by his feelings for a pretty girl bunny named Millie.
In this fun, short story, follow Dan (the exploding bunny) as he finally makes a decision. Will he or will he not finally reveal his true feelings to Millie?
Dan the Exploding Bunny is written and illustrated by Mr. Simmons, author and illustrator of the popular I Don’t Want to Poop on the Potty! A potty training story for adults, and illustrated Santa Lost His Silly Ol’ Reindeer, a Christmas book written by his five-year old son.
A couple zombie comics.
A one-page pitch.
The pilot episode of Zero Tolerance TV.
In Dead Man & Other stories you get a 40-page collection of short stories by Joe Simmons, formatted for your Kindle. A sheriff who won't give up, a game of cards, the bump in the middle of the night, a man all alone in a dead world, and the pilot episode of a new reality TV series, all collected in this volume.
Please, unlike all other Stupendo Comics titles, this is not all-ages.
CENSORED! is an exercise in being as dumb and fun as possible with cartoon animals. A foul-mouthed secret-agent pig has to track down an equally profane duck before he detonates a nuclear bomb! That's story #1.
The second story in this volume is my reaction to all of the penguin movies that came out a couple years ago. How could you not like a short comic about a penguin and drunk polar bears?
Read these at your own risk. They might be offensive if you're offended by sheer stupidity and profanity. These stories were written and drawn to be a fun read.
This one has everything: Dogs with guns! Cats, also with guns! Pirates! A cow! A horse!
What more could you want?
Here's what else you could want: This special edition collects the Milt story as well as a number of other mini comics by Joe Simmons. There is "A Short Scary Story" two funny Skulley stories, one brand new, never before seen! And more!
