- Reviewed in the United States on September 7, 2019I bought this book as a gift for a new friend who has expressed a desire to change careers at age 40 and begin nursing school. It is a gentle but thorough presentation of the intricacies of the human body... system by system. Each chapter is simply titled by another “I Am Joe’s_____”. I gave the book directly to her so I can’t give you specific chapter information. Suffice to say, it is a guide to human anatomy that engages without overwhelming. And it is succinctly memorable....how else would it jump to my mind, after all these years, as a perfect resource and tool for someone who is diving into the deep waters of God’s masterpiece,... the human body.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 17, 2019Even though these articles were first out when I was in high school (mid-60s) making some of the information somewhat dated, I still very much enjoyed reading about the different organs of the body. It is fascinating to think of the massive and complicated orchestration going on inside ourselves every second we're alive. "Joe" is 47 years old and I haven't been 47 since 1994. I remember liking that age...following some of the hints contained in this book (watching our stress for one) maybe I'll be able to hang around a while longer.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 9, 2015Am totally satisfied with the handling of this order. It was accurately described and arrived as the supplier said it was. Actually, it was in better condition than I thought it would be. I love this little book about Joe's Body. It is educational and entertaining at the same time.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 25, 2011Book arrived promptly and in good condition. I was only disappointed with the quality of the book itself: the cheapest quality paperback probably ever made. The pages are all yellowed. Would have liked that to be known beforehand. I prefer to have more endurable books in my reference library.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 3, 2011Excellent book for a person like me whose education was deficient in anatomy. I wish it were available in digital form for my Kindle. In simple everyday terminology it explains the function of all the important organs of the human body.I was middle-aged before I got this out-of-print book. I'm 81 now and have cause to ponder on deterioration of my body. There is a companion volume for the female body "I am Jane's body" Even in Google times these paperbacks are worth having around the house.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 20, 2010I remember reading these articles in the Reader's Digest Magazine and really enjoyed them. It is great to find the articles all in one paperback book, as I plan on taking the book on my Scotland trip and can read different chapters in small snippets of time as time becomes available. The trouble is, that the chapters are so fascinating, that they are "like potato chips . . . you can't 'read' just one!"
- Reviewed in the United States on July 11, 2016Great!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 23, 2014It is an excellent book. I admire the author for writing it in a very simple way where any layman (i.e., person with no science background) can read and undestand the material contained in the book.
