I cannot attest for how this works in the actual sport of Lacrosse but a massage therapist recommended I get a Lacrosse Ball to help get out knots in my muscles. If you google online there are a lot of recommendations to use a tennis ball to help work out knots but I have tried both and a Lacrosse ball is much more effective than a tennis ball. The tennis ball has the ability to squish a little bit while a Lacrosse Ball is heavier and harder and doesnt collapse in a tennis ball can. I have used this for knots in my back just by lying it on on the floor, and also use it for tightness in my neck and shoulders, just using it to press down on the tight muscles, which is much easier than using your hands. If you're looking for a lacrosse ball for muscle tension issues I can attest to the fact that this is a good product and does work much better than a tennis ball or your own hands at helping to relieve knots and tension.

Ball has an unremitting, acrid, chemical smell. Not simply the typical "plastic-y" smell. Cannot overstate this: the orange ball smelled as if it'd been pulled from a vat of petroleum-based toxic sludge.

Even after being left outside (for two months now) to "air out," the odor remains unabated. So, if you order the product and find it similarly, my suggestion would be to return it promptly rather than waiting for it to improve.

The odor is not merely offensive; it's so putrid that it prevents any reasonable product use.

Ultimately, I will not be using this like I had wanted to. The ball is firm and what little I have used it worked really well. Unfortunately, like others have reviewed, the ball has a really bad odor. I can even smell it on my hands afterwards.

Like many other, I use this for massage therapy. It's great for my back and I can work out some knots without the help of someone else, all I need is this ball and a wall! Hard enough to really roll through some tight muscle knots...works wonders!

I bought these for back massage, and they work great. They smell like plastic (and it's quite powerful at first), but mine no longer smell strongly after about 6 months. If you are sensitive to smells, consider that in your decision.

This is a lacrosse ball. It comes in various colors. I have an orange one. I use it for improving mobility and it makes me cry. I love it.

I have not had any problems with my lacrosse ball. This is probably because I got an orange one. You should get an orange one too. It's the best.

Don't use these for playing fetch with a dog, unless it is a giant dog. Lacrosse balls are rather dense and can hurt the dog's teeth. Even using an orange one doesn't change this fact.

Use this on my traps when they're knotted up. Works as well as my TP ball, but obviously doesn't have any give. I suspect this would be good on problem areas of the legs and back also and it's at a cheaper price point than the TP ball. A good addition to any other massage balls you may already have.
