Update 4-21-18, My prior rating was a 5 but today after a little less than 4 months my Hot Air Brush has died. So, I have changed my rating to one star. One day it was working fine and then a week later I plugged it in and it was dead. I tried several wall sockets just to be sure it wasn't an electrical problem with the socket. I am so mad, I was actually late for a dinner party because I needed to use a very old curling brush to finish my hair. I will be sending this back as per the instructions. :(
I like my hair to have a lot of volume (I have thin hair) and my layers to show (please excuse my dead ends) so this look is easy to achieve. I just sectioned my hair in small pieces, used this tool from my roots to the tip, then from the tip curled up (inwards) and rolled the brush around and out to keep the curl. Added a lot of volume and a nice wave to the tips. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a nice easy blowout!
I also used John Frieda Volumizing spray to obtain this look!
4 years ago my trusty old conair dryer brush fell apart. I've been through 3 dryer brushes since then, none of which worked worth a darn, and didn't hold out much hope of finding one at all that would work with my thick longish hair.
Well...my hair looks fabulous...BETTER than when I get it done at the salon. Seems no one at the salon ever listens to me and does my hair *exactly* the way I like it. Don't have to worry about that anymore. I can go back to doing it myself, and it looks just the way I want it. My hair is slightly curly and when left to air dry, it gets frizzy...and if they don't dry it COMPLETELY at the salon...it gets frizzy. No worries with this - I dry it until it slips through the bristles like silk and I know it's perfect. The bristles on this brush are really great with my hair. Most of the ones I've tried in the past few years have "hair type bristles" that will not go all the way through my hair and are a real pain. The bristles on this are a combination of hair and hard plastic bristles...exactly what is needed for thick hair...they work great.
I saw where several people complained about the controls...I didn't find that to be a problem for me at all. They are right at the perfect place where I can easily slide it from low to high or to cool. I usually only use high anyway, but I didn't think it was an issue.
I will post a video review when I get time.
LOVE this product!
*ADDED COMMENT* January 15, 2015: I am still using this dryer brush and still love it! I am purchasing one for my Mom, in fact. I would love to add a couple of before/after pics, but cannot figure out how to do that. This is the only drying tool I use, and 98% of the time, except for heat protectant, I don't use mousse or any other product to make my hair behave, and it's always perfect.
How I use it: I use the high setting on the roots all the way down to the ends, I rolled up the ends and leave it there for about 20 secs (high setting) and then I put the cool setting on for about 10 secs, then i start unrolling the brush and gently remove it to reveal bouncy & natural looking curls. SIMPLY AMAZING!!!

That tells you how pleased I am with it but it also reflects one concern.
My hair is thin but with highlights which adds volume
My hair takes a long time to dry
It's length varies between the bottom of my ears and my shoulders and I usually have bangs
They recommend and I agree that it works best when your hair is about 80% dry.
I towel dry my hair, comb it out and dry just my bangs on high heat with it. Then I go do other stuff until it's drier. I have on occasion dried it all after towel drying but it takes a fair bit of time.
I like it because it is easy and I end up with frizz free ( or at least minimal ) softly flipped under hair, with even the back finished and smooth that looks almost as good as when I have just left the hairdressers. I bought the 1.5 inch barrel.
I am not good with a blower and a brush and the acrobatics of that process drive me crazy.
I have looked at and even bought other brands and to be blunt they sucked. Too heavy, too long, wrong barrel size, flimsy and/or sparse bristled and I have no desire for one that spins.
What don't I like?
It's pricey and they don't last as long as I think they should especially given the price. Other brands are comparable in price by the way but the "extra" one I have ordered is coming from the US and even with fx exchange and duty it's cheaper.
I ordered a spare because that's how much I like this air brush and how much I don't want to be without it when it dies. First one lasted less than a year and the second one has lasted about three years to put it in perspective for you.
This one has a different plug from my previous ones. It's got a fuse blowing safety feature of some kind. Not sure if it's to avoid a home breaker blowing or if it shuts down the air brush if it gets overheated. This change may help
it's longevity but there is nothing in the manual that refers to it. There are reset instructions taped to the plug.
One other thing This new plug is much longer than a normal plug - see pic - and I can only use it in the lower outlet if I want to use both outlets. So consider where you are going to plug it in and what else you may have plugged in
Normally I straighten my hair with a blowdryer and round brush, which is a pain hence why I looked for a hot brush. I have to say, it worked amazing when I was in Europe. My hair stayed straight and had amazing body! BUT, once back on Canadian soil.....the love affair was lost. Firstly, it just wasn't powerful enough; I suppose using the converter gave it a bit more life....explains the heat marks. Secondly, some of the bristles fell out only after 3 weeks of use and lost their shape. Perhaps there is some user error here, who knows.
I would still recommend this product as results of course will vary and maybe it just wasn't the right brush for me. The product overall is lightweight and comfortable to hold. For anyone that is considering a purchase, just keep the packaging for a bit just in case you want to return it.
Bought this in the hope of saving myself time in the winter when I can’t go out with wet hair, but it clearly won’t do the job.
I purchased it and was so excited for it to arrive, only to try it out for the first time and for it not to even work.
When I turned it on, it began to silently vibrate for one minute while a terrible burning plastic smell began to eminate from it. Then it turned off and has not turned back on since. I’ve tried it in every plug in the house! Nothing.
You may as well set your $50 on fire, because you’re losing money either way.
