This is especially helpful with a man like John Knox who can be read rather anachronistically. But the added benefit of this book is really gives you an understanding of Knox and does so in a way that is sympathetic yet critical.
The book reads more as a thematic biography, but still following a chronological order. I actually think for research purposes this is more helpful because you read the authors' take on the writing and also as a jumping off point go and read Knox for yourself, since that really is his lasting legacy.
All in all it was a good read about a semi-forgotten Reformer.
