Alright the five star rating is a bit high for this solid four star slice of NYC, love, life, and self discovery--BUT for the budget and feel of the city and the fact that I really wanted Johnny to win in the end this gets a bonus star! Johnny is a good young guy with crappy prospects and the promise of fast money in the companionship for hire trade is seductive. I have had such tempting offers so could identify with Johnny and the path he took. Fortunately for Johnny he appears to emerge from the den of corruption with his soul intact but having paid a terrible price. Johnny Montana takes us on a trip through the city where you can almost think you were with the film crew on the streets, in the hallways, and other darker locations. That is the highest praise I can give a film as the actors were like people I know and have met in similar situations. The slightly unpolished added a level of real to this story that made me appreciate the effort all the move. I am a big fan of low budget films that have the actors and and crews hearts showing all over them. Johnny Montana has many glowing reviews out there and deserves every one of them.

This is a story for every young person to learn that the important thing in life is to maintain yourself and your own definition of happiness, even if the road to that is a bit more lackluster than initially perceived. The Cinematography is perfect for maintaining a late 80’s to early 90’s vibe, in light of its 21st Century induction, which adds an element of nostalgia to the overall feature. Personally, this movie inspired me to live a more fulfilling life. Living in a congested urban area had driven me to believe having enough money was the most important aspect of sustaining life. After watching John D. Gavin's film, I personally feel the biggest message is to go after what you want with full intentions. Overall this film is great. The writing is solid, soundtrack is fitting, and the story is highly relate-able. Personally I am considering this film a classic for reasons such as; its replay-ability, the nature of the soundtrack, its nostalgic vibe, the fluidity from scene to scene and the consistently fitting actor portrayals. I highly recommend watching this film, then watching it again.

Yet another in a series of terrible movies in Amazon's "Prime" section. It's as if they are bought en masse. What amazes me is that anybody could think enough of their work to try and sell them. Mediocrity seems to be OK with some people.

Loved loved loved Johnny Montana! A movie with a storyline that everyone can relate with. This is a true account of what it feels like to go against the grain of society and often family, to truly be your authentic self. In a world full of fake, Johnny Montana is as real as it gets. He learns to chase his dream in a big fishbowl where one is a little fish learning to swim in the tanks with sharks.
The acting is superb and the characters are well developed. The shooting style is excellent and raw.
Johnny Montana is a movie that opens up your heart and gets you to root for yourself and your dreams again.
