But I bet you won't use it. I always end up using my little level that's already in my toolbag. Tend to forget I have this thing.

Update: I've changed my mind. After doing some towel bar re-intallation, a bunch of pictures, and a write-on board, I've found this tool MOST handy.

Would now give it a 5 star, but it seems the system won't let me do that.

I bought this level out of curiosity since it was once on sale for $3.15.

It's a 24" level with a slot and sliding holes in the middle. It's supposed to help in marking points as it has sliding plastic clips with holes in the middle, but is absolutely not necessary. In fact, the distances from the edges to the holes (the number you need to add to mark a hole at some specific distance from the end) is either 4-17/32" or 3-15/16", which means you spend more time figuring out the math than you save marking the holes. Worse, the pencil holes are huge making it difficult to mark the centers accurately.

I have hung hundreds of shelves, paintings, and cabinets with an ordinary level just fine. Like I said, I bought this level since it was so cheap, and get the most use out of it using it an ordinary one.

While another reviewer said this item wasn't a necessity, it certainly makes the job of hanging pictures, mirrors, etc. much easier. It has built in levels to ensure you get your item hung perfectly and there is no need to measure the space between the holes to hang stuff.

If I were to have one tiny complaint, it would be that I wish it was 36 inches long or that they had a longer one available. I have had a few items that were larger that I couldn't utilize this item. However, that didn't cause me to knock down the review on this one, as I knew the size when I bought it.

It's just a great buy for the price and the purpose it serves!

I have been discovering many gadgets and gizmos on Amazon, among other places, that are making home maintenance work easier than ever. This Mark-N-Mount Level is one of them. Another is the Dremel 290-01 1.15 Amp 7,200 Stroke Per Minute Engraver includes Letter and Number Template that I used to brand the level as belonging to me. If you can't hang what you need straight with this level, then you might want to have your vision checked. You won't need to fine tune your 'hang ups' by moving a nail up, down or over. This ruler is the ultimate for those do-it-yourselfers. My wife is always hanging different pictures and such. I hang a lot of antique signs and so forth as well. This level/marker makes it easy and takes the guesswork out of where to mark the holes.

It is a very good quality. It doesn't have a cheap feel to it like other products I have purchased. I bought mine at Big Lots and liked it so much I bought an extra on Amazon. I highly recommend this product.
