This is the original London production that I bought as a cassette tape years ago in London. It is by far my favorite version; I am so glad I found it.
Amazing recording Gordon Waller as the Pharoh - done in Elvis style - Marvelous. He had a great voice and this is just another example fo it. I was thrilled to hear him sing this part again and the others on the recording were wonderful also.
I saw this production when the national tour came to my city. The production and entire cast is top notch and professional. It is an enjoyable musical with great songs, lyrics, and music. Fast shipping and delivery.
I wanted the original cast of this production, and that is exactly what I got. I am enjoying this CD very much. It was packed well, shipped immediately and was just as described.
This original London stage cast of the musical is great, and though I understand this CD is now out of print, I hope that suppliers like this one will continue to keep it available to others who wish to share the original magic
While this is a studio recording of the show it does contain some of that shows cast members. I remember it as being fun. I remember it being fast and joyous. Over the years new productions have come and gone but each has become more elaborate and slick and something of the original fun has evapourated. This recording captures all that original originality of being what it was, a show for a school with performers enjoying themselves. So for those who only know the newest versions you really should give this a go, it will revive your interest in that due of Llloyd Webber and Tim Rice.
When my 3 year old watched the DVD, loved it and would sit engrossed the length of it, I decided to get a Joseph CD for the car (more wholesome than Disney Princesses and Take That!) I wanted this version as Donny Osmond has the depth and power in his voice for songs like "Close Every Door to Me" - it makes the goosebumps rise on your arms. This narrator also has decent inflection as well as a great voice. Other releases have star studded leads but, in my view, more on a popularity "get people into the theatre" basis than because they can do the part the same justice.
It's hard to track down this CD (at a reasonable price anyway) but it's worth the search. The only version that could compete in my view is the Paul Jones version, but it does not appear to have ever been put on CD (and my old cassette is warped!)
