It begins before he’s even involved, with a young lady named Alice. Her life is far from a Wonderland. She’s in possession of a rare jewel, la grenouille d’oree. But not for long. She loses the jewel, and her life. Ah, Todd Gleason. He’s never lacking for something to do. See, he’s met a beautiful woman, an actress with, uh, questionable talents. But she’s been cast in the lead role of a Broadway revival of the Can-Can. Opening Night leads to Todd meeting a woman of influence who may just have a job for him. It involves money. Lots. And a lost jewel. Yup, he takes the assignment. His destination? The South of France, to retrieve what he’s come to know as the Golden Frog.
Meanwhile, Alice’s sister, Audrey, is already in the City of Lights, hiring a private investigator to find out what rabbit hole her sister fell through. There are others involved, all of them with their own motives. The mystery of the gilded amphibian will only deepen. And darken. The search for the truth will lead them all to Cannes, where they discover it takes a thief to catch a thief. And a killer.
The Shadow Diaries
In this heartfelt, funny, and ultimately inspiring memoir, Shadow recounts the first year that he came to live with his two Daddies, known as DJ and DS. Since they rescued him from the SPCA, Shadow chronicled his life in a weekly series of diary entries, first posted as a Facebook blog. From getting settled in his new home, to his Daddies learning his quirks (there are many!), to celebrations and holidays and road trips, Shadow experienced so much.
Now, all those of his adventures have been compiled together in this volume, representing a progression of three lives sharing their days, their nights, laughing and bonding with every passing season.
Along the way, Shadow shares stories of other dogs and how he met his extended family. He even sings songs! He narrates the story of a wedding. He learns about art and about theatre. But what he most likes are his daily walks. By day, he has lots of energy and loves to play “Triple Fetch.” At night, though, he enjoys snouncing. It’s a word he made up.
Filled with poignancy, humor, and heart, THE SHADOW DIARIES will restore your faith in all the good that exists in the world. Shadow’s unique story is an expression of the joys we seek in our lives. This insightful pup reveals what we all know in our souls. Indeed, this Shadow knows the secret to life.
The final entry reveals Shadow’s ultimate truth. But as he sings at one point, “Let’s start at the very beginning.” It’s a very good place to start.
A dog can change your life. Your life can rescue his.
At thirty-four, Brian Duncan has it all. A trendy Manhattan life, a high-powered PR job, and a gorgeous fiancée with an exciting future of her own. Then, in a single moment of deception, Brian's world crumbles. Bitterly betrayed, he decides to toss away all he has worked for. Irresistibly drawn to the road, he leaves the city's busy streets behind. . .
On a hillside along New York's Hudson River Valley, Brian is transfixed by the beauty of an enormous windmill. Running toward it is a lovely little girl and her alluring mother, Annie Sullivan, who owns the windmill. The two strike a chord in Brian's heart and soon he discovers the small-town charms of Linden Corners--and of Annie, whose elusive quality matches his own questions about life. And as their relationship deepens into passion, through the force of nature and the hand of fate, Brian will learn that love comes in unexpected ways.
Twenty years ago, Vanessa Massey couldn't wait to graduate from high school and make her small hometown of Danton Hill a distant memory--despite an indelible friendship she'd recently forged. But life has largely ignored her plans, and time has summoned her back to the shores of Lake Ontario for a school reunion that could change everything.
After four years as Danton Hill High's resident outcast, Adam Blackburn went on to a successful career in New York City. Yet now he's drawn homeward for a reunion he's surprisingly curious to attend--if he and his car survive the fierce summer storm that's hit. Adam always hated storms and their destruction. And sure enough, he soon collides with another vehicle in the blinding rain. But it turns out the driver is the one person he'd hoped to see: Vanessa.
Reunited by Mother Nature, the two take shelter in an abandoned farmhouse where they are forced to decipher their unresolved history. Together, they'll unravel the twists of fate that have brought them to the present--and discover the remarkable truth that may carry them through the future. . .
Several years have passed since Brian Duncan was “just passing through” the tiny village of Linden Corners, and yet he remains, now a resident fixture. So it is with trepidation that he ventures beyond its borders and back to his old life in New York City to attend the wedding of his best friend. There, he runs into his ex-girlfriend, Maddie, the woman at the center of his life-change.
But just what is Brian’s new life? He has devoted himself to caring for his young daughter, Janey Sullivan, now ten, and as precocious as ever. It’s time, though, for Brian to answer the question of his uncertain future. He finds it, of course, at the base of the village’s landmark, the windmill, which continues to give voice to his beloved Annie’s soul. Brian not only finds his purpose, but he may have also just met the woman who will at last heal his heart.
CHASING WINDMILLS takes the story of Brian Duncan and all the residents of Linden Corners to new, and inspiring heights. Favorite characters appear, and new friends are made, as the heart-warming series finds renewed hope. And at last, the story of why the windmill was first built is answered, and it is a message of love that carries even today, nearly two centuries since the wind first swept through its spinning sails.
THE PAST NEVER FORGETS. CHASE THE FUTURE.
In THE MYSTERY OF MARILYN AND HER MEN, Marilyn Mackenzie is an old friend who has just lost her fifth husband. Lost, as in died. And yes, her fifth. Poor Hank Dilfer got bashed over the head by a deer foot, the latest of Marilyn’s matches to meet an early end. Don’t worry about her, she’s fine, living a life higher than her Manhattan penthouse, her bank accounts filled with the spoils from her spouses. Her heart, like always, is ready to move on, and see, that’s where Todd enters the picture. He’s never one to miss an opportunity for a cool con that could fill his coffers. An unexpected financial windfall could come Todd’s way if he’s able to prove Marilyn’s innocence of Hank’s murder. Too bad he thinks she’s guilty as hell.
Is Marilyn a Black Widow, or is something more nefarious afoot?
Then, in THE BUSINESS WITH THE BUMBLING BLND MAN, it’s a perfect Autumn day that finds Todd Gleason strolling through Central Park when he eyes something odd—an elderly man stumbling forward into a pond. First on the scene, Todd rescues him, only to learn he is blind and had lost his footing. Or maybe not. Soon, Bartholomew Vasgersian proposes a big payday for Todd: come to my estate and find out which of his relatives is trying to kill him before he inherits a fortune. Todd agrees, but he’s about to meet his match with an assortment of Vasgersian relatives that are loonier than the next. Turns out, one of them jumped off the turret at the estate just two weeks ago. How does that tie in with the threat Barth feels?
Is Todd seeing all he thinks, or is he flying blind?

A SCHEME TO BILK A WEALTHY COUPLE OF THEIR RECENT WINNINGS TAKES A DEADLY, HILARIOUS TURN
Todd Gleason, amateur confidence man and all-around charmer, can't stand the fact that Henri and Elise Procopio, already rich beyond avarice, have just won the lottery. So, Todd does what any self-respecting crook would do. He follows them to London, where the couple is celebrating their tenth wedding anniversary. The flat where Todd is setting up shop falls through when he stumbles upon the landlord lying on the carpet, fatally shot. With sirens blaring in the background, this frog out of water suddenly finds himself running from the law and falling into the hands of a couple of goons. They're not the only folks caught up in a scam spiraling dangerously out of control. There's Clive, the hit man with a quick right hook; Brandy Alexander, the lovely blonde from the airplane; Beth Simon, an American friends of Todd's who just can't stop talking; and the bumbling Birdie, a man seeking revenge again Todd. Oh, and then there's Todd's pet frog, Toad, who may hold a secret all is own.
With sharp comic timing a pace that never quits, LONDON FROG jets from New York to London and back again (and back again), for a wryly suspenseful, sexy tale of crime, punishment, and amphibians.
