I've tried two methods to measure spaghetti with this product and neither works well. The first is trying to hold this measurer over a box of spaghetti and "pour" out the pasta. This doesn't work because it's really hard to keep the measurer in place while the spaghetti comes out, and once the spaghetti comes through the opening it tends to force open the aperture blades. The second method I use is to grab a handful of pasta and bring the measurer over the top and down the bundle. This doesn't work either, because it's impossible to keep a firm grasp on this measurer without bumping the serving size control tab. It also just doesn't help that I have to use a guess and check system of grabbing what I think is the right amount of pasta, and then confirm whether it's too much or too little with the measurer.
The other reviewers of this product have noted that the portion sizes are too big. I haven't really noticed this, probably because I tend to eat a lot. But even if the portion sizes were correct this is still a pain in the butt to use.
I was drawn in by the attractive-looking design, but I wish I had bought an ordinary flat plastic pasta measure with a grip end instead.
