I liked Josephine and came to like Pierre before the book ended.
This is a great story with just enough mystery in it.
It was a simple story and an easy read. I don't always have a lot of time to read, so I enjoy a story with a small cast of characters that are easy to keep straight in my head.
The main characters are vulnerable and/or flawed. I enjoy seeing the growth of each character as well as the relationship. There are no perfect people, so I don't think there should ever be perfect characters, either.
I smidge of suspense. I'll admit to figuring out the "bad guy" long before the characters did, but I didn't know it from the very beginning either.
Jerome was such a man, greed turned him into a traitor to his own family. The worse thing to me was how he treated Harriet and his daughter. In my book he is not a man but a sniveling coward.
Thankfully all worked out well for Pierre and Josephine thanks to the letter she found to Bernadette from Pierre's mother. Beautifully written Cindy, great job.
