About Josh Hickman
Josh Hickman was born at the Columbia Hospital for Women in Alexandria, Virginia in 1970 A.D. He spent much of his youth and early adulthood in various parts of Texas, including El Paso, Dallas, Denton, and Austin. Televised Three Stooges shorts and Famous Monsters of Filmland magazine were early creative influences on a young, impressionable Mr. Hickman. He began drawing and making amateur films at an early age, eventually studying art and film at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas, and the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a Radio/Television/Film degree in the screenwriting program. A self-taught musician, he started playing blues on the streets of the Deep Ellum section of Dallas, later delving into surf and soul instrumental bands. Eventually migrating to Los Angeles, Mr. Hickman has worked as a writer, filmmaker, musician, and artist. His writing has appeared in Film Threat magazine, Hungry/Thirsty L.A.?, Pasadena Weekly, and other publications. His film work includes the award-winning "Torrie's Distraction." His artwork has been exhibited at various L.A. galleries, including Where Gallery, Creature Features, and a one-man show at Hellada Gallery. Mr. Hickman has produced and recorded two solo word-jazz albums, "A Handful Of Love" and "Something For The Ladies," as well as his love letter to the spooky Halloween records of the 1960's and 70's "This House Is Haunted." He has performed and recorded in several bands, including The Hollywood Orchard Band, The Noble Gasses and his own solo group, Josh Hickman & The Hickmen. His lifelong love of comedy teams and comedians served as inspiration for his debut comic novel "Through Tick & Tinn: The True Story Of The Greatest Unknown Comedy Team Ever Known." His follow-up comic novel, a satire of the horror fiction genre titled "Five Slices of Fear: A Connoisseur's Hoagie of Horror" is scheduled for release in early 2018. He lives and works in Hollywood, California.
