It is hard cover with a bit of texture and is a little on the heavy side, but does lay flat when it is open. It has an elastic band to help keep it closed and a black ribbon marker to help you keep your place. The font is 10 point making it larger and easier to read. The print is crisp and clear on the cream-colored paper. The text is closer to the center of the Bible leaving no space in the center to journal but it has nice wide outer margins with plenty of space…approximately 2 inches. The front page has a place to write the name of the person to whom the Bible belongs, then a table of contents, alphabetical order of the books of the Bible and Epistle Dedicatory for the King James Version. The pages are a bit thicker than other Bible pages. It also features the words of Christ in red.
I have been looking for a no frills King James Bible in which to journal, so when I received the “KJV Journal the Word Bible” in the mail last week I was ecstatic. It was exactly what I was looking for. I have never been one to draw in my Bible but I am a note taker and write things that inspire me as I read. Since I love stamping and journaling I thought I might like to try my hand at using stamps and colored-pencils in my Bible. I have been doing a bit of experimenting and am finding that colored pencils (I use Prisma colored pencils because that is what I have) are the best medium to use for coloring and pigment inks for stamping, but “stamp-off” first to insure there is not too much ink on the stamp. Just remember when using pigment inks they need time to dry properly so not to smudge when you close the Bible. Also clear stamps are the easiest to position so that is currently my choice so stamps to use. My pen of choice for journaling is the Pigma Micron pens and Sakura Gelly Roll metallic pens also work well. They do not seem to bleed-through, but again they need time to dry/cure before closing the Bible or turning the page, otherwise it will smudge. I have not been brave enough to try dye yet. The cover has a bit of texture, but I think it could be easily embellished to suit your personality. All in all I love this Bible. I also love that it is the King James Version!
If you are a fan of journaling/note-taking or would like to expand to using pencils, pens, stickers, stamps and etc., this is the perfect Bible. It would also make a great gift for your crafty Bible loving friends.
Disclosure: I was given a copy of this Bible by the publisher, Thomas Nelson, through Harper-Collins. I was not required to write a favorable review nor was I compensated for my review. The opinions in this review are my own.
This is a hard back Bible with a smooth black cover that is meant to be decorated with paint or other art medians. According to the publisher it could be collaged or decoupage. There are 2005 pages and a few extra pages to write notes on in the back of the Bible.
There is a black ribbon bookmarker along with an elastic strap to keep the Bible closed. This is a King James Version.
The font is a 10 point font on a creamed colored paper. I would say that the paper is a bit thicker than your average Bible paper. If you want to create inspirational are art I would use color pencils or pretest other art medians first so you don’t get bleed through.
The layout has a wider margin on the edges of the scriptures. There is really a lot of space to write or create art, journal on the pages. I really love this in the Bible. It makes it very unique with the larger print. The Bible is thicker because of all that extra margin and font size.
The words of Jesus are in red. This isn’t a study Bible and there are not notes at all in this Bible.
This is a really nice Bible and would make a special gift to someone. You can never go wrong giving someone a Bible. Maybe you want a new Bible. I would recommend this Bible.
