Thank you, Crossway, for including unruled pages for writing! It inspires creativity. They are thicker than a typical Bible (still on the thin side) and I like the cream color. The pages feel sturdy. They won’t wrinkle as easily as a typical Bible’s pages.
I complained in the earlier review about the font size of the single-column journaling Bible. This is only a 7-point type face—even smaller—but, frankly, it’s easier on the eyes in a two-column format than the 7.5-point was in a single column. All I can say is this: While I wish the type were larger, I got used to it. Obviously, this thick Bible would have to be much thicker if the type were larger. So it’s a trade-off. I get it. My preference, however, would be, if possible, to have a larger print (8-point?), single column interleaved Bible—but, like this one, without ruled lines.
I like the slipcase. For protection, I will store it in there.
Still... nicely done, Crossway. I really like this Bible!
The pages are smooth and cream colored, and thin as well. Any writing tool you use should be non-bleed so that ink doesn't seep through the other side of the page. Most blank pages continue with the Bible on the other side of the sheet, occasionally you will come across a complete blank sheet of paper. There is a tight pen strap on the right side of the Bible next to the blank pages. It is genuine leather and looks as it will age well over time. I'm not too too careful with it, and it has already taken it's individual broken-in appearance. I would not recommend markers for this Bible unless you're absolutely sure it won't bleed through.
This Bible is a gem, and I will be passing it on to my newborn son. It's beautiful and is sure to last a lifetime
I was looking for a Bible to use for art journaling, and liked the interleaved design and the simple modern binding. I will be able to embellish this Bible extensively without compromising the readability.
This Bible is quite thick however. Definitely not something you want to carry with you. With all the extra blank pages, it's inevitable, just something to be aware of.
The ESV translation is clear and accurate without losing some of the traditional, beautiful, familiar phrasing of older translations.
All in all it's a good albeit not perfect Bible for my purposes. The balance between paper weight and Bible thickness is a tough compromise with no clear winners.
Will update with artwork once I create some.

Pleased nonetheless, it's definitely attractive (although I think I ought to be weary of idolizing the appearance of a bible...yes that can be a thing!) and though the typeface is small, the design of the serif makes it very legible even at point 7.
If they made an interleaved version of the readers bible edition, that would be unbeatable (please can a crossway bibles rep read this and consider this!!!)
The bindings on all editions are good quality. The print is 7.5 font, which is small. This really, is my only criticism. Perhaps a 9 or 9.5 font could be introduced, as with the ESV Journaling Bible with wide margins? Other than that, I have no issue with this Bible, and highly recommend it!
I'm sure the Bible is excellent (my wife loves hers) but I can't enjoy mine yet, until I find someone else selling it.
