I am new to the 3D movies having just got a region free 3D player for Christmas. I love Michael Caine so this had to be in my collection. Surprise! It is an excellent movie - great acting, great scenery, believable CGI, full of action and suspense. Stretches credibility at times, but it is a Jules Verne sort of story. I have a new respect for Dwayne Johnson as an actor - you are really pulling for him in this movie. San Andreas was good too. The kids were good too. Highly recommended for an evening of adventure.

It's a cute movie. I think kids will enjoy it a lot. Absolutely no effort was spent on the script, it's very generic. However the cast are pleasant and do their best. Lots of references to Jules Verne's books, so maybe it might encourage a kid or two to read Verne (when they are old enough to read some very wordy lengthy fiction.) Not as funny as it might have been, but again, I think kids will love the humor. Little kids.

However, a clean-cut movie though too many cheesy moments. I love Luis Guzman in anything he does and didn't fail me this time. It's certainly is all fluff but nonetheless okay. It kept me watching if only how it would play out. Michael Caine always a pleasure and let's face it, the young know-it-all character always a factor in these types of movies yet ultimately gaining understanding or maturity in the end. Enjoy it as a frivolous film taking you into fantasy which is not a bad idea. Will be a nice hit or a bad miss with viewers.

Whoever wrote this pulled every stock and cliché-ridden plot device they could find into the most tediously predictable film ever made. However, aside from the writing, it’s well made and sufficiently entertaining. Interesting sets, good effects, good acting, good direction, good music, good audio, etc. it’s sad when a high quality team is let down by having to go with a dull script. Still, studio executives are just as responsible for bad writing since their staff approve scripts, budgets, etc., before anything more happens on the movie.

Not as good as the first one despite cast

I bought the first one partly because its 3D and wow is it!! It seems like a 3D demo reel. So when I saw there was a second one, I managed to locate it in 3D as well. The sequel is, not surprisingly, not as good as the first, although the cast is easily as good as the first one. Personally, I love The Rock in almost anything. Action and humor, he is entertaining. AND he does his usual in this one too. Also in the cast is the one carry-over from the first film, playing the son and young explorer. The love interest this time around comes from the famous young actress Vanessa Hudgens. It also features the great Michael Caine. So the cast is great. Its really the script that lets this installment down. It seems a bit more like a TV episode stretched out to a full length movie. Not bad. Just not as much there. The 3D is worth it, if you have the equipment, although there is nothing to match the mine car ride in the first one.

While this film leaves no cliche unused,there is simply no denying thats it is great family fun.Once your past the whole rebelious son not bonding with the oh so nice stepfather,dispite all his attempts,goo of the first 10 minutes or so,it settles down into a very enjoyable romp.There is action a plenty,a giant lizard,a golden volcano,earthquakes and Atlantis are all thrown into the mix.Not to mention a very inpressive sequence involving flying around on giant bees.The lead actors somehow manage not to be completely overshadowed by all of flashy visuals,Dwayne Johnson has fun sending up his tough guy image,and Michael Caine seems to be having a whale of a time as the Grandfather.

Theres nothing new on offer here,of any description,but who cares,the film is fast paced and fun,and has something for all ages to enjoy.If you Liked Journey To The Center Of The Earth,your going to enjoy this one just as much.So sit back,and be entertained for 90 minutes(minus the end credits),Journey 2 wont let you down.

It tells of a return to Captain Nemos mysterious island. though captain Nemo is dead the giant lizards etc are still roaming around. Some of the acting is rather weak especially from the Rock (wrestler), but the quality of sound and picture especially the 3D effects like the throwing of the spear etc are very effective.
