Journey to Heal helped me work through the feelings and behaviors that I have struggled with for years. By dealing with the layers of pain and seeing Gods word to comfort, support, and guide you through the messiness. Crystal takes healing into the cyber world and you can join a group with other women reading the book! I highly recommend the group! It is a chance to meet Crystal, make new friends, and have support as you go through the book. Several of us have read this book a few times.
Last, if you are lucky enough to be able to go on the Journey to Heal women's retreat at Wrightsville, North Carolina beach please do so! This was the most beautiful weekend spending time working on your healing with other women. There was plenty of alone time scheduled too. She has taken being an author and set the bar really high. I don't know of anyone else writing about such a sensitive topic and having groups and retreats! Journey to Heal has taught me so many important parts of my healing that traditional counseling just did cover!
steps of acknowleding the facts and through the steps of healing and recovery. This great book where she writes her own testimony and journey through healing along with the online sessions to go is the best things that happend to me since many years. This book is an answer to many prayers, because after all those years(I am 57) I thought I mainly must be over the pain. But after reading and doing my homework , by answering the important questions and write them down, as it is encouraged to do, my eyes got open that most of my behavior was rooted from my early sexual abuse in my life. Which means stuborn selfdefensive behavor, feeling guilty for everything, having low selfesteem, hating myself as a person and hating my body, which lead to many selfdestructing behavior and selfabuse. As later in my life I went through a lot of problems , I have not understood all the conection with the abuse. Through this book I understood as well that is was a crime what happend to me and that because of the hurt in so many areas in my life I made wrong hoices for which I am responsible for. Great we can go to our heavenly father to confess and experience forgiveness for ourself and his love and quidance through every step and get free from bondage and hurt. I also want to mention that before every session we had some homework to do answering questions for ourself , reading one chapter in the book and watched a video clip concerning the theme in the chapter. That was very personal and heartwarming. Plus a verse for every day during the working days of the week for encouragement. I was very exited when the sessions started and my lovely sister started to talk on a secret facebook group once a week. During that sessions we answerd questions and she would read them out loud so we really felt close which each other, got encouraged through each other and felt bonding as we went together through our process of healing withCrystal and all the other precious lady in that " closed group". Also during the week on our closed facebookpage we would write to each other and pray for each other when someone got stuck in her process of sorting out events from the past. I would sugeggest this book to every one who went through any kind of abuse, not only sexual one. It is so eyeopening after someone sees all the conections and effects that abuse had in early stage of life, how destructive it is , and that " hurt people hurt people" . Get this book, read it , work through it , participate in the sessions and you won't be the same. It changed my life and it also can change yours. You come out stronger. After being a victim for a long time you can become a surviver and feel the freedom and understand how God has created you. Feel free clean and without shame. Attend the new sessions which will start in May. Get registered and you will not regret it. Of course I have to say it is hard work and you will go through different emotions. But that is necessary to bring everything to the light and adress it. Who is to blame for what . How many times we blame ourselves, can't forgive ourselves or blame other people later in life when actually the person to blame is our perpetrator(s). Have the courage to start this journey of healing, you won't feel alone as you are with others together that understand you and don't blame you. Get free from shame an fear. Dedicate yourself to this workout and don't give up after your first hindrances. It is so much worth it
