Fantastic piece of work - recommended for anyone who has watched Portuguese football or who is fascinated by the level of influence and success the country seems to have. Informative and entertaining.

The book's strengths outweigh its shortcomings and it is worth a read for those who are interested in Portuguese football.

The narrative is, at times, too much of a collage of articles. The attempt at recreating the excitement of the 2012/13 campaign fails due to the fragmentary nature of the book. A more coherent narrative would be needed, following some of the protagonists of that season and electing one or two major themes to slowly unfold throughout the story, in order to make it a truly exciting account of that roller-coaster of a championship.

Nevertheless, the authors still portray that season clearly for a general audience. Interspersed, they provide enough historical references to understand the wider context of the Portuguese football micro-cosmos. Some of the best sections/articles are those that provide analysis on tactics, coaching and specific games.

I save my last words for the print quality. For a book that costs this much, the defective layout, the B&W grainy print, the A4 size format (!!!), the poor cover quality, make it a bit of a let-down should you be the type that likes to neatly shelve your books for posterity. I recommend the authors to consider selling this in e-book format only (and take the chance to fix the inexplicably disjointed layout).
