The great points of the book
I liked reading Journeys of Wonder because it gave me something different in each story. The writing is awesome, the stories were totally different each time. Some dark, scary, others kind of morbid, some stories left you in shock. I loved two short stories in particular titled The Door, which happens to be the first one in the book. Second one I really liked was titles Infinity, I then also noticed they were from the same author. Not to say that all the stories I didn't enjoy as I really enjoyed reading them all, just those 2 were my favorite.
This book is a short read with hopefully alot more to come. I also thought that the cover was very inviting, the authors stayed true to the genre with this cover! Liked it!!! This is a must read especially for Halloween coming up if you want a good scare!

In the story The Door, which happens to be my favorite, I really just thought about the Saw at first, people locked in a room with something they were all trying to figure out to get to the conclusion. About mid-story I figured out what was going on but the play out of that story was completely mind-blowing. Made me stop at the end and think I hope that is not how it goes in real life.

There are many stories that leave you thinking WOW, I pictured an ending totally different. That's what I loved about Journeys of Wonder!!

Things I did not like about the book
Shortness of some of the stories, I have read short stories from Edgar Allan Poe before so I know that some leave you wanting more and that is just what this book did, but I need more in some of the stories. Technically this is not a bad point but as good as this book was I had to pick something I didn't like about it!

I hope that there is more to these volumes soon, because if you are a horror/scary genre person like myself you too will love this book.

I received this book FREE from the author for a 100% honest review

Awesome! I'm no longer going to feel comfortable trusting time, my neighbours & family, opening doors, and putting off until tomorrow what I should do right now. Great stories - I raced right through them! :)

I'm always interested in the offbeat, the fantastical and chilling, so it was exciting to find five stories in a single anthology that fell into all three categories and raised the fuzz on the back of my neck. I was glad it was a balmy summer day of reading and not one of those wintry dark ones.

The Door had a poetic appeal with the use of a repeated story element and a slow, yet well-paced revelation of what the door symbolizes. In Infinity, Ian Kezbom tackles a well-worn theme--time travel, but handles it with with a fresh twist, leaving the reader in a time loop. Blackout and Eye of the Wolf by Lisa Gail Green raise the bar on horror in fantasy, and you can't stop reading until "The End." Even after you close your eBook, you have the feeling there's still something in the shadows she hasn't revealed. Leslie Rose's love story, Afterdeath, takes place in a world where death is as much a part of a relationship as life, and she builds an amazing world that's teeming with captivating images.

I loved reading "Journeys of Wonder," in a chilling, boogieman, afraid to close my eyes kind of way. Great, short stories that read fast, with as many twists and turns as full-length novels.

Journeys of Wonder, Volume 1 is an anthology of horror/thriller fiction by three authors. These stories lean more toward psychologically thrilling than what has become standard blood and guts horror. I'll admit that I am pretty unfamiliar with the genre in general so I can't really compare it to anything else, but it is a good quick read for fans, or people on the fence about the genre. These are well written stories that go by quickly and give you a good taste of what will be offered in the future editions. This collection is well worth the meager investment it takes to get your own copy.

According to the authors, this is the first of a series - if this is the case I'm looking forward to the rest of the series. This issue has five strong short stories - some science fiction, some not - but all great spooky stories.
+The Door - Great opener for the anthology - they're trapped in the same room, but whats the connection between the six occupants?
+Blackout - More of a straightforward horror story - the leering neighbor with a dark secret
+Infinity - Strong science fiction story - time travel can be tough, and this does it well in a short space - I can see this expanding out into a novella easily.
+Eye of the Wolf - great twist on a popular horror/genre topic
+Afterdeath - The great beyond in the far future, and a great way to end the first edition - the strange terminology might throw readers not used to reading science fiction short stories, but I loved it.

Great work by all the authors!

I, too, am new to this genre. Each story is interesting, providing a change of setting and scene to each tale told. A good study in the subtle differences each writer can bring to a tale which follows similar, but not exactly the same, type of story. A fun read, and look forward to volume 2.

Werewolves, time travel, creepy neighbors, a roomful of strangers, and a sci-fi love story are what you can look forward to in JOURNEYS OF WONDER. I enjoyed this set of five stories. Although the cover is dark and creepy, not all the stories are, but there’s definitely a sense of “wonder” in this speculative fiction collection.
