I have been experimenting with cooking with whole grains. I have encountered a few duds. I bought this as whole berries so I can grind it very fresh, about 1/2 cup, in my coffee mill. This is a most pleasant taste and addition to my whole grain baking mix. I plan to try it in an ancient grains mix. The buttery, nutty flavor is extremely pleasant, just delicious. I highly recommend this one.

I actually bought this at my local health food store for $1.99 per box! My daughter, who cannot eat gluten or dairy, CAN eat this wheat with no adverse reactions! We don't eat any hybridized wheat at all. This is it. If you doubt the serious affects of today's wheat, see the YouTube video "Wheat the Unhealthy Grain". It's shocking how poisoned our food supply is!

Jovial Organic Einkorn Wheat is THE BEST! The pasta, too, is fabulous!

This is the best grain ever. Super high protein content and can you say delicious? We bought just the 16-ounce to try. Made the suggested recipe for bread on the box. It was so fantastic that we hurried a bought 10 more boxes. It's an expensive grain but well worth it. Will be buying in larger bulk if possible in the future. Jovial also sent us a complimentary pasta product to try when we bought the 10 box order. Very excited to try the pasta. Thanks Jovial!

I love this stuff! You do not even have to cook it. Just soak it in water overnight. The flavor is wonderful. I found myself eating it plain. Use instead of rice.

I bought these Einkorn wheat berries for sprouting. I have years of experience at sprouting, and wheat is notoriously easy. These berries would not sprout at all. As a matter of fact, when they absorbed water bits of starch seeped from little cracks on the kernels. This indicates that they kernels had been cracked so that the berries would not sprout and be used for replanting. After continuing to wait a few days, the wheat berries rotted and began to smell. The fenugreek and mung seeds I started sprouting at the same time are perfect. The date on the einkorn wheat box is 2016.

A word to Jovial and to readers. When you buy GMO, you are actually only buying the right to the consume the product. You have no ownership over the seed unless expressly purchased. In the case of this non-GMO hereditary product, you do actually gain ownership over the seeds and the ability to plant them. Jovial - you do not have the right to destroy the seed by crushing in order to prevent me from growing this wheat. you do not possess the right to stop future generations of this wheat, nor the right to prevent me from consuming it in the form that i'd like - namely, as sprouts. Vita-spelt does the same thing to its whole spelt kernels, and both companies ought to be ashamed. You are benefiting from millennia of hardworking farmers who preserved these seeds from antiquity, and the mere fact that you now selling it does not give you exclusive rights over the reproduction of those seeds. That credit belongs to the farmers who had the foresight to preserve and protect ancient seed varieties.

As far as this $9.00 box it is useless. I cannot use these lifeless kernels for sprouts and now they are good only as chicken feed.

I had not heard of "einkorn" until a week ago, then purchased the wheat berries from Jovial to get familiar with this grain.

First impression: the boiled wheat berries (cooked al dente) would be an excellent substitute for ground meat in chili recipes. The mild flavor, complementary texture and good nutrition make these berries an important addition to the family cupboard. For use in chili, prepare the sauce and berries separately, then simmer together for 15 minutes before serving.

January 2015 update:

How time flies! Six boxes of Einkorn Berries (still in the shipping container) were stored in a closet for over a year; I had drifted back to a favorite staple: organic short grain brown rice. Recently, an impromptu combination created an instant "must have more often": 1 1/2 cups Berries (cooked as directed, then refrigerated overnight), 1 1/2 cups diced sweet onion, 1/2 cup diced fresh parsley, juice of 1/2 lemon, salt & pepper as desired, plus 2/3 cup Newman's Olive Oil & Vinegar Dressing.

I finally discovered the Wheat Berry Salad recipe on the box, but prefer this simpler combination - serve as a main dish with cherry tomatoes, diced cucumbers, and tasty cubes of cheese on the side.

I have been using the einkorn flour and love it in foods and meat coatings. I also enjoy einkorn pasta. So, the next step was to try the wheat berries and determine where they would fit in my diet. These wheat berries cook up nicely and easily. They were great as a rice replacement. I didn't notice any change in my energy level (like a dip) after eating this. The next thing I am going to do is to add these to soup. I like the idea of doing something good for my intestines and immune system. I will order again.
