Joyce Chen 14-inch Burnished Bamboo Angled Stir-fry Spatula is beautiful and practical. A handy tool that's gentle on cookware, this spatula is crafted from natural bamboo for an ideal combination of strength and moderate weight. Efficient in action, the spatula works well for tossing and flipping stir-fry ingredients without scratching nonstick woks or scraping seasoned carbon steel ones. The 14-inch length keeps hands comfortably far from heat without sacrificing control and the material is moisture-resistant. Safe in the dishwasher. The spatula has been burnished to create a rich, smooth finish. Bamboo which is heat resistant so it stands up to high temperatures, especially from a wok. It won't soften like other wood utensils and is resistant to stains, heat and steam damage.
Top Customer Reviews
As soon as both items arrived (from Amazon, where else?) I decided to break in the wok.
I have to say, this spatula is perfect. The curve fit the inner bowl like a glove. The angled handle made flipping the food and serving easy as well.
I like the length, as well as the finish, and look forward to using this bamboo spatula for years to come.
It's a little smaller than the metal ones and obviously with a rounded wooden leading edge it doesn't "shovel" under food quite as efficiently, but it's effective enough. I've gotten used to using it and the difference doesn't bother me.
While my seasoning is well on its way towards full recovery...
There is an angle in the neck which is nice. The burnished bamboo does not really noticeably absorb liquids and accomplishes that without any extra coating, both pluses. Cleans easily. Cheap enough that if anything happens to it you can replace it without regret.
Of maybe 16 utensils kept in containers by the stove, this is one of my top 4 users.
Second issue is that mine came with large gashes in the wood on the back, even though the packaging was completely undamaged. seems like this company uses online sales to get rid of defective products. I detest companies who do this.
Soap and water did not remove it.
Alcohol would not remove it.
Acetone would not remove it.
Sandpaper removed it.
The last Joyce Chen product I will ever buy.
