About Joyce Sterling Scarbrough
The valedictorian of her high school graduating class, Joyce Scarbrough is an intelligent Southern woman weary of seeing herself and her peers portrayed in books and movies as either post-antebellum debutantes or barefoot hillbillies a la Daisy Duke, so all her heroines are smart, unpretentious women who refuse to be anyone but themselves. She's lived all her life in southern Alabama, she's the mother of three gifted children, and she's married to the love of her life, a superhero who disguises himself during the day as a high school math teacher and coach.
In addition to her novels, Joyce also has short stories featured in anthologies from Mobile Writers Guild, L&L Dreamspell, Excalibur, and Mod Mobilian Press.

"Shades of Blue is an exciting read that adults as well as teenagers will enjoy. It's a story of everyday people who refuse to allow violence and cruelty to prevail. Sam, JoJo, and Britney show by example that courage, friendship, humor and compassion can overcome life's hardships. It's a coming of age story well told by a gifted wordsmith. Highly recommended for positive messages and realistic characters." — Midwest Book Reviews
