Nine-year-old Ana & her little brother Tommy are taken on an historical adventure by their grandfather. It is the true story of an exceptional & gentle giant. The Great Dane Canine of the Royal Navy: Joyful Trouble. Experiences that draw the reader in, through touching life lessons about courage, determination, resilience, loyalty, civic duty, empathy, history and a friendship that binds beyond human conception.
Grandpa looking into Ana’s eyes—said, ‘You must remember this. Determination and faith Ana, will always get you through tough times. Always.”
With gratitude to a writer whose compassionate, relatable writing and commitment to creating quality reads for youth- drew us in.
The tale will appeal to the animal loving side of children who are huge fan of dogs. Life lesson are taught through the tale such as to be mindful of others and to always consider the people around you. Joyful Trouble is a refreshing tale for all ages and can be a tale for you.
The special bond between Ana and Tommy and their grandfather is precious. The story is about a Great Dane's adventures during the grandfather's time in the Navy.
A delightful read!
Told from the point of view of Grandfather, we hear the tale of a very special great dane called Joyful Trouble as Grandad tells it to his two grandchildren. From the moment this amazing dog arrives at the Navy base, he is getting himself into mischief, some of it hilarious, and he soon becomes so important to so many people with his wonderful ways. But he is not always helpful and somebody wants to be rid of him for good ...
The action is quirky, delightful, and thoroughly enjoyable, and my children loved this story from start to finish. It raises important topics in a gentle and childlike way which is a wonderful way to start conversations with younger children who are beginning to learn about the real world and how life isn't always simple. This book also made my kids desperate for a dog so thanks for that Patricia Furstenberg 😉
JOYFUL TROUBLE by Patricia Furstenberg is a wonderful children's book with characters and action that will keep a child hooked from the very beginning, and a charming read for adults too. Definitely a must-read for 2018.
