Phillip Caffrey thought he was in love with Faith Montgomery. She made it quite clear she was never going to love him. After he saw her with Lucky, he got drunk and got June drunk with him. Waking up in the morning with June next to him in bed. He couldn't wait to get her out of there. June with her tattoos and piercings turned him off. She might him off but she wasn't the kind of women he wanted in his life. June had a crush on Phillip while he was dating her best friend Faith. She hates herself and isn't sure how faith is going to take it. When she winds up pregnant and Phillip is not happy about it, she is crushed. After the shock wears off for Phillip he finds his feelings taking a complete turn about.

There was more to Phillip then you first believe. He learns there is more to people then what you see. As he gets to know June, he starts seeing her for herself. Not what is on the outside. June is great. I loved her in the first book. She is out spoken, feisty and a strong women. Phillip hurts her when he judges her by her tattoos but she is strong enough to go on without him, kind enough to forgive him. Some sad moments in the book. Wonderful story. This is book 1.5 in the Downtown series and can be read as a stand alone, but you since they revisit characters, it does make more sense to read in order. I received an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I am LOVING this series by T.J. West. I have been waiting on June's story, and it did not disappoint. It had me laughing, frustrated, angry, crying... I loved both Phillip and June. I was not ready to see this story end. This is a awesome series and I can't wait for the next book to come out!

I am a huge fan of the Downtown series. I usually try to avoid novellas just because they usually don't do anything for me in the series. I just figure that I don't need to know about that secondary character or the background on the main character. But sometimes novellas or the .5 books in a series can be worth the read. Judging June was definitely worth the read.
June and Phillip were brought to us in Forbidden Faith. June is Faith's best friend but also the person that is helping make JINXS a super hot band. Phillip is Faith's ex boyfriend. One night the alcohol helped Phillip and June to land in bed...
Phillip and June are complete and total opposite of each other.
Judging June is a super hot but a very emotional read. I finished it pretty quickly because I couldn't put it down. It can be read on its own, but reading Forbidden Faith first and Harmony's Healing after it makes the story of June and Phillip. I hope they are in the rest of the Downtown series because I want to know more with them!

I enjoyed getting the opportunity to learn more about Phillip in Judging June. After reading Forbidden Faith, I thought he was such an a-hole, that I honestly wasn't even sure I wanted to read a novella about him! But I trusted TJ West to redeem Phillip in this book, and she sure did! I liked eventually seeing the softer side of him, and I liked getting to know June a little better, too. She's such a fun character and I love her part of this series. I liked seeing the two grow together, and look forward to seeing what happens next in the series!

Phillip angry with Faith, does something he will regret, June has always had feelings for Phillip, but too much alcohol, one night, regret, hurt words, feelings! How will Faith feel with the news, she has never truly felt the way Phillip wanted her too about him. What will happen? Can there be something between Phillip and June? Opposites attract, beautiful things happen, but you have to get past the hurt. Love their story.

I loved catching up with Phillip and June in their story, it was a great continuation of the plot from Forbidden Faith. June was a character that I could really relate to, I don't have as many tattoos, but I have a enough that I get judged based on them, and I have adopted much of the same attitude, people who judge based on appearance are being shallow. So I completely loved Phillip's growth, realizing that body art doesn't make the person. I had a hard time liking Phillip until about 3/4 of the way through the book, but in the end he grew on me. I wasn't expecting the story to be so emotional, but at points I needed a tissue. I liked that while Faith was involved in the story, that the story really focused on June and Phillip without really trying to build up to the next book in the series, they weren't overshadow by any set up for book 2. I'm loving this series so far, and I can't wait for book 2!

After reading the first two chapters of Forbidden Faith, I decided to go ahead and grab Judging June on Kindle Unlimited since I had found June to be a strong and interesting character in Forbidden Faith. Knowing it was a novella, I knew it would be a quick read and I was curious as to where the bombshell she had dropped in FF would lead.

I think the writing itself was a bit stronger in this one than in FF, though I did still find a number of errors another run by a proofreader would probably solve. My biggest problem with this installment falls heavily in spoiler territory, so I don't feel comfortable expounding on it. It is a scene that depicts a truly traumatic situation but, to me, as someone who has been through something similar, it seeemed to have been overly exaggerated in some areas, which I found more than a bit offputting. It fits with a tv or movie portrayal of such a situation, I suppose, but not with the reality of what I know of my own experience and of others I know who have had the experience. I don't feel in any way that this was the author's intention, but several hours later it is still bothering me, which I fully realize is on me and not Ms. West.

Beyond that, I continue to like many aspects of Ms. Junith Beatrice's personality (loved the scene where her full name was revealed) but I am still rather unsure about my feelings about Phillip. Faith's guest appearances were a definite highlight.

I expect at sometime I will read more of this series, especially if it remains available through KU, but I don't exprct it to be in the immediate future.
