The sellers, responsible for rehabbing this machine, were highly rated to start with, critical in my decision process.
They certainly seem to take pride and ownership in their work.
I have not contacted them but their offer to be contacted at anytime appears sincere.
The longer bits are ... evidently, I am a coffee junkie, given my history of buying fully (aka, "super") automatic coffee/espresso makers.
Most recently (past 10 years) DeLonghi ESAM3300 Magnifica and KRUPS EA82 Espresseria.
These were nice machines, but, also at the low end of the spectrum in terms of cost ($500-600 new).
I use oily beans (Kicking Horse Whole Bean Coffee, Kick Ass Dark Roast, 2.2 Pound, from Amazon monthly).
Every machine I've owned has failed within a couple years.
I have disemboweled each (why not?), and kept some on life support for a while, but, they ultimately succumbed to the inevitable - with lots of moving parts, high pressure fluidics, and my oily beans, death from cheapness occurs somewhere (weak link).
So, I decided to buy a higher end machine (~$2,650 new) that has been around a while and was highly thought of.
This is different than my past machines, it is smooth, fast, and makes great espresso/cappuccino.
Three years later ... how do I know, but, I'll be optimistic.
We make at least 10 cups of coffee a day and my husband uses it in the evening for tea (the hot water spout).
The S8 hat 2 different cleaning cycles: the tablet cleaning takes about 10 minutes, the descaling about 30 minutes and you have to clean it every 2-4 months, depending on how much coffee/espresso you make. It's really not too bad.
The perfect cup of fresh coffee that you get with this machine is just not comparable to anything else. You get so used to the superior coffee, that if you have to drink coffee anywhere else, you just can't.... because everything else tastes just horrible!
The 'crema" (the little foam on top) is the best. We buy 5 - 10 pounds of coffee beans at once saving money on the beans.
I don't know what I would do without my Capresso and can only recommend it to anyone.
You definitely need to customize the coffee strength and coffee/steam/milk portions, but once that's done, the unit is truly automatic. You have to clean it, but the unit tells you what to do and when.
Worth every penny.
