Fun flik with good production values. There's just something about dinosaurs eating people after I've had a frustrating day that just makes me feel better! Watched it with someone who argued it was "too predictable" but this far into the franchise I don't think any of us are watching it cause we're expecting big plot twists. We want to see some realistic looking dinosaurs eating people!!! And that's what we get here!!! Plus some added really nice eye candy in the form of the male lead. Very nice. Hot guy, dinosaurs eating people, guy is smart and sexy, dinosaurs are eating people, guy is brave and courageous, dinosaurs are eating people... yup, great movie!!!
I really liked this movie. None of them will ever be as good as the first one, though. Still, this was a solid movie that pays a lot of homage to the original. There are lots of easter eggs for fans of the original movie. There is plenty of action and it does a good job of entertaining old fans and bringing new fans up to speed on the dangers of creating a dinosaur theme park.
I really didn't know how I felt about the new direction of the plot at first, but I'm made my peace with it. Basically, it centers around the old idea that humans will exploit something that should be wondrous and special for personal and financial gain. Also, the old adage about when anything new is created the first thing some people ask is how can it be used for war.
After watching the second movie in the new arc, I've come to like it a little better. Also, since I heard what they're planning for the series. They're opening the world and trying to get away from just retelling the same story with new characters. While I loved the original and want to see more of it, and I'm sure many of you do too, I also understand that we'd eventually get tired of it and we'd be comparing it to the originals and they wouldn't hold up.
What I am really worried about is them leaving the island. My least favorite part of the entire franchise is in the second movie where they take a few dinos to LA. I loved the first part on the island where they're in the wild, but not when they're in the city. It just turned into godzilla at that point. So I hope they handle that aspect better, going forward. I see a few possibilities that i'd love to see explored.
This is a good movie, though, that I think new and old fans alike can enjoy.
We watch films for entertainment and I found this movie to be entertaining and fun. The dinosaur special effects were simply amazing. I liked the storyline and despite some of the silliness in the film I enjoyed watching it.
I liked the fact that the movie came with a BluRay disc, a DVD disc and a digital copy. I love to use the digital copy and I stream it to a high resolution digital projector into a 12 foot diagonal picture. Backed up with a 7 channel stereo system the movie seems like you are watching it at the theatre.
The BluRay picture and the audio track were just excellent. I liked that the film was constant action and people were fighting to survive. Like most movie series you don’t get the wow factor like you did in the first film. This is still a very good film and I rated it at 4 stars. Had it been the first film, with the expected first impression wow factor, it would probably have been a 5 star rating.
It is a good film and worth owning to have in your video library.
Bought to go with my Jurassic Park Ultimate Trilogy... No doubt next year that will come out with a 4 pack! In any case, I know that "world" got panned in reviews, but I really liked it. The some of the special effects were awesome - my fav the clear balls you ride around in, in the park. Wished I were in it. Until the bad dinosaur got loose of course... It's worth owning if you own the others.. I happen to be a brice howard fan and she was very funny in this movie. Just my humble opinion... but then I am not a movie reviewer, just a movie watcher. I would say that these movies are good for 8-10 years old and older... there is quite a lot of scary violence... a few words...but no sex or nudity. Too busy trying to survive the escaped dinosaurs to think about a roll in the hay. :)
We simply adore Jurassic Park and dinosaurs as a whole. Needless to say, when Jurassic World came out, I was ecstatic. I remember leaving the movie theater with an enormous smile on my face, feeling giddy like I did when Jurassic Park 3 came to theaters. I purchased the 3d DVD for my Visio 3d TV and DVD player. It worked just fine without any glitches. The 3d elements on this movie are OK. I have seen more engaging 3d composition but this has definitely become a staple in our 3d collection. As far as the movie goes, I loved Jurassic World, the dinosaurs, and the characters.
I’m giving this a 4 because it such a wonderful movie I’ve watched it a couple times. And it is good to be able to shop from home and have the product delivered to the door. But. I Purchased this DVD just a little over one month ago. The DVD Jurassic World. I am just now having the time to open it up and when I started opening it the DVD was sliding around within the case! We all know that’s the way our DVDs get scratched up. So I was disappointed. It’s not cheep, therefore I don’t think I am wrong expecting it to be taken care of until it reaches this home. I’m just saying please be more careful with other people’s property. Shopping with Amazon is a dream come true, so... those of you who working with Amazon please be worthy. Hopefully this DVD isn’t damaged. I will follow up if it is.

I would like to point out that the Product I ordered was Blue-Ray 3D and Blue Ray Disk and I received the Blu-Ray 3D and Digital download disk, the barcode on the shrink wrap is correct but the contents is only the 3D disk I can only assume that the fault is with the supplier and not Amazon, so if you are after the 3D disk and Blu-ray disk you will only get the 3D disk, and if you look at the photo of the product it is for the Blu-Ray 3D and Blu-Ray disk so be aware you will only get the 3D version, the price of £4.29 is still a bargain.

5.0 out of 5 starsNew Life Into The Jurassic Park Franchise

I have seen all of the Jurassic Park movies, and for me, besides the original, which is of course still the best, this is the best of the sequels. I really felt the franchise had had its day after two recent disappointing outings back-to-back (Jurassic Park 2 & 3), but this one rekindles (almost all of) the magic of the first one!
I love the different setting of this one, and I like the way it completes what was intended with the first 'Jurassic Park' - i.e. a theme park where these dinosaurs are displayed! The new actors also breathe some fresh air into the franchise, as do the new dinosaurs! I won't give any spoilers re:plot, but it's got the usual dose of peril and action as the other films. Just a really enjoyable, easy to watch movie, ideal to relax with a beer and some popcorn with - loved it!
Although it's sequels lowered the tone and quality a little, the first of the original Jurassic films from Spielberg was incredible (especially for it's time) and was always going to be a pretty tough standard for this new addition to the franchise to be measured against. But I don't think this new film really could have come much closer than it has done to holding up against such comparisons and it's certainly managed to fix a patch over the less enchanting Jurassic Park 2 & 3 sequels - it looks absolutely amazing, with advances in film making and CGI having come so far since the first film, the park has never looked better, the dinosaurs have never looked more lifelike and the film manages to give a true sense of scale to the island and it's inhabitants. Visually, it's a fantastic.
And it's great that we finally get to see the park how it was intended to be at last - fully functioning and crammed full of paying guests, many of whom will inevitably of course become dino-snacks for the prehistoric beasts (large and small) they have come to gawp at. The park has a great feel to it and as all the guests excitably explore it's many features and star attractions you can't help but get excited about the fact that at some point you know it's going to all go horribly wrong, which is when the real action will kick in.
There is a familiar face or two but the new cast who see us through the unfolding chaos are mostly great - Chris Pratt makes for a great dinosaur trainer/hero with his rough and ready charm and easy humour and there is fairly decent chemistry between him and his female counterpart, Bryce Dallas - the park manager, who together are trying to contain the chaos (and death count) whilst also trying to keep her two nephews safe, who have picked the worst week possible to come and see the island. The older of the two nephews perhaps wasn't quite ready for a film this big but given his age you can't really hold it against him too much.
The film might be fairly formulaic but there are some nice nods to the original film along with new and improved dinosaurs (and the addition of some Chris-Pratt-Trained friendly raptors helping to save the day was a nice touch) and the two hours flew by with plenty of action.

So, the movie is great, but this 4K release isn't really what you'd expect in terms of quality. It's not bad, but it's not great. The main reason this isn't getting a higher rating is because there are problems in the picture: somehow, grain has been introduced that didn't previously exist on the BluRay release. In most scenes it isn't noticeable, however, there are scenes in which it turns into noise and becomes incredibly distracting. There are also problems with pixelation in some of these scenes which look like it make have been encoded incorrectly. Claire's dress, for instance, is white - except for the pixels that don't seem to display correctly, which makes it look dappled with blue specs, perhaps this is something to do with the HDR encoding.
4.0 out of 5 starsA GOOD, ENTERTAINING FAMILY FILM, WITH LOTS OF ACTION AND TEETH!

This is a review of the standard Region-free Blu-ray.
If you are a fan of the earlier 'Jurassic Park' films, you will also enjoy 'Jurassic World'. In many ways, the older films are formulaic, and this is written and produced very much to that same, highly successful, formula:
Take a handsome, hunky alpha male, an attractive but not too ditzy female, and some cute kids of various sizes, add some superb locations, some totally inept authority figures and a large number of teeth. Shake and stir, season with a lot of fake blood, and serve hot and fast.
Jurassic World follows this formula to the letter. It has merely increased the size of the teeth, and the numbers of potential victims in jeopardy, with the new Theme Park already operating and in full swing, as the film opens. However, it produces a very entertaining result from this ‘dynos' by-the-numbers, adding a nice little twist by having Velociraptors, formerly one of the arch villains, now being called upon to be part of the solution. ‘Cute Velociraptors’ are probably beyond even Hollywood’s abilities for invention, but this will certainly have improved their profile!
All in all, this is a good, entertaining family film, certainly a good choice for a wet Sunday afternoon. Enjoy!
