all NYHC /punk/ metal lovers should own this essential album. It's one of the heaviest albums to spawn a subgenre of metal-core acts like Life of Agony . Sheer Terror emerged in the late 80's alongside the other greats like Warzone, Killing Time, Sick Of It All, and Breakdown. Guitarist Alan Blake infused Celtic Frost-style riffs over the band's NYHC /punk breakdowns . Vocalist Paul Bearer pioneered clean vocals with hardcore growls and snarls . Heavy , bulldozing music tinged with tongue and cheek humor . This is one of the best landmark hardcore albums to emerge from the scene ; it has influenced countless bands . Sheer Terror failed to match the brillance of this masterpiece ( due to constantly changing lineups ) with subsequent albums . This has been long out of print , so get your hands on it if you can . Mandatory listening for true NYHC fans .
