This book is funny, sweet, scary sometimes and very intense at times.
The story is about Hetta Coffey, her best friend Jan and her dog Po Thang.
It's also about massive squid, Mexican pirates, pearls and people who are not what or who they seem to be!
It's sweet story of friends who will do and say anything for each other. It's about who has your back when you're in trouble, who can you trust when you can't trust your neighbor, it's about greed and what some people will do to get what they want.
It's a scary story about Mexican bad guys who will kill to get what they want and then try to blame it on big sea creatures to keep people off the ocean.
It's a funny story about a woman and her dog and the antics they get into. Hetta's internal dialogue is so funny I was laughing out loud! My husband kept giving me a questioning look but never did ask me what was so funny! (He doesn't read much)
I recommend this book to everyone! It's age appropriate for teens and adults all the way to 95!
There are two men who love Hetta and her friend Jan and you will here from them towards the end of this book. Jen's Jenkins loves Hetta but shakes his head at her and he penchant for trouble.
Jan's boyfriend is Chino who also doesn't make much of an appearance until close to the end of the book and gets caught up with some less than law abiding characters and gets tied into a black trash bag!
Please get this book and read it as fast as you can.
It is book 7 in this series. I haven't read any of the first 6 books but I will certainly be on the look out for them.
Just Different Devils by Jinx Schwartz is funny, provided you can laugh when dismembered corpses are being described in gruesome detail. Well, maybe not so much detail, but what is described is gruesome. And, did I mention that while you fight to keep from spewing your lunch, you’ll be laughing your hind end off? You will, I promise. Hetta is my kind of hero, heroine, or whatever the proper term is. She lives life to the fullest, takes no prisoners, and makes no apologies. Yay, Hetta!
Loved this book, and I’m willing to bet that, unless you’re brain dead and totally without a funny bone, you will too.
I give it four and a half stars.
But she is the type of person we wish we had for a friend because she's never dull or boring. The book is fun to read with just enough excitement that you don't want to put it down but it won't keep you up all night.
I just love Hetta, Jan, PoThang (her dog) and all her other amigos! I look forward to more stories from Jinx Schwartz.
I enjoy how you take us on board the Raymond Johnson to different ports in Baja, ready for the beauty and excitement of each new day...never know what Hetta will do next. Humor is always just around the corner, even involving Po Thang with a threat of Doggie Beano for our four legged friend. Who now has a girl friend, Bubbles the lady Dolphin. Thanks for introducing me to Coco Locos when I cannot have a Mojito.
The big question, when will Hetta Coffey bring us Book Eight? Cannot wait. Awesome Book!
FlacoBob in Panama!
The Red Devils get the blame as criminals try to get away with murder and the loot. So much for trusty criminals. Lots happen in this book. I read about 12 chapters New Years Eve waiting in the E. R.
From reading it seems that boaters are very protective and supportive of each other. Good to know. Hope it helps keep the bad guys away. Seems not though.
I think Hetta needs to calm her jets or she may lose her Jen's. Her knight in using armour.
