My beard was mostly gray & then I Just For Men’d it & 10 minutes later I rinsed , washed then conditioned & rinsed agin! It took total of 15 min w clean up & dark blonde the gray away to a lighter & brighter more sharp me!
I bought this because I wanted to kind of get some of the gray off without looking like I did an obvious tint job. My hair is naturally brown but, was blonde when I was a kid. I went with the dark blonde and it did a great job in getting rid of most of the gray hair, it looks natural and, no one can tell I did a “tint” job on my hair. Last time I did a tint people asked if I dyed my hair which was embarrassing to say the least. With this one, because it blended so well, I cannot even tell the difference other than the most of the grey is gone.
This product is great for dyeing eyebrows. I use it to avoid having to fill in the ends every day. The applicator is a bit tricky to use, but I found that using an old spoolie brush works perfectly. I also like that the dye doesn't get any darker after ten minutes, which means I don't have to worry about forgetting to set a timer. Oh and it was really easy to wipe off of the places that I didn't want it, and it didn't stain my skin. It lasts a long time, too.
Update 4/2021: I would not recommend Just For Men for coloring just your grays golden blond. I found that the best solution for me was to double-process the salon way but to DIY to more precisely control times and experiment with toners and save some money. I went platinum white rather than continue trying to dye just the grays. That may be very bold for a lot of guys, but works for my features.
Update 10/2019: (Scroll to end.) (This review is for lighter shades of Autostop.) I have prematurely gray hair and am nearly 50% white in my 30s. I have been messing around with bleach and dyes, going to Sally's, etc. since college. I am intimately aware of the shortcomings of traditional haircolor. I had accepted that perfect color without brass means a 2-3 hr. bleaching session followed by either rocking a platinum look or dyeing back down. So, with a fresh haircut and all virgin growth, I was ready to try something new. The lack of peroxide intrigued me. I'm not 100% sure but I don't think I see any lift. However, "dark blond" went a bit darker and redder than I cared for. I think it's probably an NG, so not very red, but "gold". I'll take it, but this is not a lighter version of my natural darks. Next I will try "light brown" and see if that's any closer. The good thing is since this is no-lift, once you find the right color, you can maintain it without going brassy. Another issue is longevity. The dark blond rinsed out to noticeably lighter with daily use of purple shampoo in two weeks, so this isn't as permanent as a peroxide-based product. However, I am impressed by the gray coverage and lack of skin staining. I recommend buying two of each shade you think might work. It's still cheaper than paying $80-$120 to a salon. Use latex gloves and do not use the applicator brush. That just withholds another ml of product you'll never get back. Make sure to coat all strands before the cream turns dark, starting with sideburns. Wait 10 minutes, then apply colorsafe shampoo with gloved hand, rinse and scrub off any staining asap with a washcloth.
So, after a bit of playing with JFM AS, I decided the color I chose was too dark and went for a full bleach-out. Here's the thing. The dyes used in this product take almost twice as long to remove. I must have sat in the bleach waiting for the pink tinge to fade for an hour past palest yellow. This left me with beautifully whitened hair, but the ends which had been bleached a month prior just kind of crumbled. I'm a guy and my haircuts are typically on the short side, (and I knew what I was getting into beforehand) so I wasn't too shocked. My stylist said the extreme processing was required due to the very difficult-to-remove metallic dyes. So, I'm going to have to not recommend this product to anyone who might tend to get creative and dye their hair shades other than pink or red. Otherwise, start with the lightest shade and go gradually darker. It's cheaper to do this on Amazon rather than paying full retail at a pharmacy, so I'd still say just get every shade you might need and start light.
Just enough color to soften my gray to a blonde natural color. Easy to use. Blends color how I like it,looks natural not covering completely more like hi lights and low lights. I just sreak it in. Leave for 8 minutes and rinse out and condition.
While this hair color is typically aimed at men, I stumbled upon it in a moment of need when my usual hair color ran out. Rather than making a last-minute store run, my resourceful husband suggested using his Just For Men Easy Comb-In Color Mens Hair Dye. Surprisingly, it worked so well that it has become my go-to choice ever since.
How I Use the Product: I use this hair color for quick touch-ups on my roots. It's become a convenient solution when I don't have time for a trip to the store.
Expectations were Met. Surpassingly it goes on smoothly, doesn't have a strong smell, and the short application time is a time-saver. Not to mention, it holds up just as long as the regular hair dye I was using before.
The ease of application, lack of unpleasant odor, and comparable durability make it a practical choice for anyone, regardless of gender. Don't be swayed by its marketed audience; it truly makes no difference.
Pros: Easy application Pleasant scent Short processing time Long-lasting results Cons:
Geared towards men (but effective for all) In conclusion, if you find yourself in a pinch and need a reliable hair color, don't overlook Just For Men. It might surprise you, just as it did for me.
I have purchased and used the Just for Men product since my mid-thirties. A few years ago this comb in option appeared on store shelves and on Amazon. Not a fan of this method. 😕 I combed it in, but it did not seem like enough in the premixed tube to cover the desired area. After waiting ten minutes and rinsing, I noticed my temples still showed silver. The product does not seem to grab hold and absorb. So, I ended up going to the store and spending eleven more dollars to touch up. Disappointed, frustrated. I will avoid this option if I can. I still prefer the pour bottle Just for Men, even though I do the mixing and application. Wearing the gloves helps and laying down old towels and rags prevents messes.
It would have been great if it worked, given how easy it is to apply.
I gave this a try instead of going to a hair salon because if it was as easy to apply as advertised and it worked it would be great. It is as easy to apply as advertised but my gray hair is very slightly darker now, that's all. I followed all the instructions, used the whole bottle on my short hair on my small head, let it rest for 15 min instead of 10, and my hair is very slightly less gray.
