The Best Parts:
This story is one that I have been waiting for. Logan and Sara have known each other forever, just like Kelsey and Ethan has so the tale of another childhood romance had me all excited. What was even better about this one though was the struggle for Sara and Logan. They fought and yet they didn’t and then family got in the way, and let’s not mention Liam, but it was real. It was fun, and it was also heartbreaking.
The love between these two was a blessing to read and Wagner hit in on the head when it came to writing two people who were just head over heels in love that they would do anything for each other. and trust me at the end, that little out of the blue surprise had me all smiles. ;]
The Worst Parts:
The relationship between Sara and her father is one that I had, but let me just say if my father had ever pulled any crap like that I would have been pissed, but I think Sara and Logan could have figured things out if there hadn’t been Liam in the equation. It was a rough patch, but the fact that the catalyst was the fixer to their relationship takes the cake in irony for this novel lol.
The Black Alcove series is one that is full of light hearted love and characters who steal your heart. I can’t wait for the next novel, because I could do with either Liam or Connor getting a woman to put them in their places too lol
Logan is ready - he loves Sara - but their timing is always off. In order to prove himself worthy in the eyes of her father, he stays behind to run the bar while Sara focuses on a bar in another town. But being that far away from the love of his life is harder than he'd ever imagined.
Wagner's characters are fun to get to know, her situations keep me laughing and on my toes, and the love warms my heart. The community she has created in Wind Valley is never dull! I love this series and can't wait for the next one!
Here's my favorite quote from Just One Night: "Being with you scares me. I'm scared of the way I feel, how I think, the ideas I get. I think more of you than I do of my own future, and that terrifies me. I knew it then and I ran. I don't want to run this time. I want to make this work. Promise me you won't break my heart."
Family dynamics, mistrust and past misgivings blend together to create the perfect storm for Logan and Sara to drift further away from their happily ever after.
And then there's the shirt. Wagner hit her stride with this one simple symbolic piece that pulls at the reader's heartstrings and makes them root for Logan and Sara to find their way back to each other.
But I won't spoil it for you....you'll have to read Wagner's latest to find out how Logan, Sara and the shirt fairs in all of this.
In one word Just One Night is more than just one night it is a time for second chances for a life filled of love and forever. I loved how Jami Wagner quickly introduced us to Logan and his bond with Sara. The relationship they have for one another is strong no matter the obstacles that come in between. I have to say Jami Wagner did a great job in making Logan work for his woman. Have to say for a man who is trying to so hard to prove he is the right man for Sara he didn`t have anything going easy for him. For being my first time in reading a book by Jami Wagner this series just wowed me to the point I bought book 1 right now. Loved it.
I have to start off by saying, I didn't read book one in this series. I think that might have been a mistake because when reading Just One Night, it was like going to a party where everyone knew each other except you. It was awkward and not fun.
I felt, Just One Night starts right off like the reader knew the back story of the couple. Not having read book one, I knew nothing and wasn't invested in the book like I should have been. I didn't get a back story of the main characters, Sara and Logan. Because of this, I wasn't rooting for them. All I knew about them was they dated once and now they are getting back together. There honestly felt, to me, like half of the book was missing.
When they did get together, it seemed very immature and childish. They fought a lot, were jealous, didn't trust each other and spent the majority of the book apart.
If you are going to read this book, I suggest reading book one first. It might help out with reading this one.
