I read Just One Song and Just One Week in one day but I have to say there was an issue with this book that definitely brought the rating down.

This book is about Mia who you met in Just One Song as Nicole's best friend and sister of the heart and Chase, the drummer in Zach Walters band. These two have been hooking up with a no strings attached friends with benefits relationship but it is no longer enough for Chase.

Mia is a very confused young woman and has been through some trauma in her life that shaped her idea of relationships,,,and not for the good. She keeps secrets and hurts others in the process. Then she has a major health scare that rocks her world as she faces surgery and the unknown. She has kept this from Chase and her friends and is determined to go it alone. She does not want to be a burden and affect the lives of others with her illness as her mother's health battle did.

ALERT...SPOILER AHEAD! Stop reading if you don't want a few facts about why this author and this book was disappointing to me.

Chase is in love with Mia and wants to be with her always but she draws him in and then pushes him away, fighting to protect him from her health scare and what she feels is an avoidable future that she thinks wrecked her family. Here is where the book failed for me. Chase gave her his undying love and promised he would never ever stop chasing her, trying to win her over. But then he lets his head think all kinds of stupid, untrue stuff and decided to hook up with someone he just met, to move on and leave Mia behind!!! Is that true love? Is this what you do to the woman you love more than your life? What in the heck happened to the man who swore she was IT for him?

As romances go this was more of a 3.5 stars because there really wasn't a lot of romantic action going on-and I'm not just talking about the very limited fade to black sex scenes. I could feel Chase's character much more than Mia's in the romance department. Just One Song was a very sweet romance, Just One Week is more about Mia's struggle with the issues that keep her from committing to Chase. I think it would have been better if their HEA was developed more thoroughly at the end of the book instead of in an epilogue. That said I gave it a 4 stars because the issues that Mia deals with are very real and I could completely understand where she was coming from. This was more intense than the other two romances I have read by this author and it left me feeling mildly depressed; however I say that as a compliment to the author because she was able to make me feel the things that Mia felt.

This is the sequel to Just One Song, which turned out to be one of my FAVORITES. : ) It also, surprisingly, was not a planned book. This story, Mia & Chase's story, was written for the fans. Aside from the beauty of the story itself, I just think that fact is awesome & had to share!

So! We met Mia & Chase in Just One Song. Mia is Nicole's best friend; Chase is the drummer in Zack's band (and also one of his best friends). They had an instant attraction & began a friends w/ bennies relationship in JOS. Chase was starting to get a little too serious, Mia was starting to get really freaked out, and when Just One Week opens, Mia hasn't spoken to Chase in about 6 months.

This story was hard - a lot harder for me thank JOS. Part of it is that I wanted to strangle Mia for most of the book. She is going through A LOT of crap. Enough to break anyone, really, but she doesn't break - she just gets bent so far down, and the part that bugged me is that she refuses to reach out her hand and accept the help that both Chase & her best friend are trying to offer her. She's super stubborn. And Chase... he's hot and talented and so in love w/ Mia...

And, as a bonus, we get to see Nicole & Zack's wedding! : )

Beautifully written, amazing story, so happy the fans demanded more Mia & Chase! The last chapters & epilogue are spot on to what they should be, and this one is definitely on the keeper shelf along w/ JOS. *hearts* : )

Mia ruined the book for me. I am so annoyed with characters who run away/hide from their problems and end up leading on the other main character. Chase also annoyed me, too. He made a serious effort with Mia, but I would have moved on a long time ago. After all, Mia never asked Chase to chase after her. What a sucker for punishment. Life is too short to waste on someone who barely makes an effort. The epilogue 5years later brought this book up to 2 stars.

I am falling head over heals for this amazing series!

Just One Week is Book #2 in the series. Although I feel like it might could be read as a stand alone, I would HIGHLY recommend that you read the previous book first. The first book introduces you to the characters and how they met. I really feel that it helps make the story even more beautiful after already feeling like you know the main characters and all the supporting characters in this book.

In this touching story you get a better insight to the relationship between two very broken people. Their pasts have cause them a lot of heart ache and forced them to fear love. Their journey is very sweet and beautiful. It reminds me of that saying "a great relationship is not between two perfect people, but instead two people who are perfectly imperfect for each other". This couple is PERFECTLY IMPERFECT! I loved the ending. It could not have ended any better.

The characters are very complex and lovable. The supporting characters are the best. They are all wonderful and you quickly fall in love with the entire group of friends.

I have adored both books so far and can't wait to read more in this series! I highly recommend this series and any books by Stacey Lynn!
